Check out these secret study spots around campus when you're scrounging for somewhere quiet to focus during finals week.

Finals week is here, and students flock to the usual spots to get their studying done. The couches at Panasci Lounge are great, but you risk procrastinating by people-watching or napping instead of cramming for that astronomy exam. Avoid the fight over outlets at “Club Bird"; the intimidating silence of Carnegie Library; and check out these lesser-known study spots on campus where you can actually get some work done. Coding classes in local elementary schools are setting students up for success

A coding initiative aims to teach younger students practical skills that could lead them to STEM-related fields.

Elementary school library classes across the nation do not just focus on the Dewey Decimal Classification and reading comprehension anymore. Some library classes are teaching a new literacy – computer coding.

This trend is on the rise as computer skills become increasingly important for many jobs. A Gallup study found that 40 percent of schools in the U.S. teach computer programming.

DeWitt community shares lessons in love, life through poetry

A free workshop on writing love poetry at the DeWitt Community Library brings quirky and touching moments from community members.

Love can be an erupting volcano, purring, the emotional trajectory of a yo-yo or even an aardvark. These were just some of the thoughts shouted out by eager participants in a free love poetry workshop held at the DeWitt Community Library. Local poet and retired librarian Martin Willitts Jr., 65, had invited the dozen or so members of the crowd to expand their definition of love through free association, while he scrawled their responses on a large sheet of paper.
