SU remains undefeated in the season with a 57-44 victory over Clemson Sunday.

The Syracuse Orange extended its best ever start to a season Sunday, defeating the Clemson Tigers 57-44. C.J. Fair bounced back after struggling in SU’s game against Notre Dame Monday, leading No. 1 Syracuse (23-0, 10-0) with 19 points over Clemson (15-7, 6-4).

In the Orange’s last game, Fair had just six points on 2-for-11 shooting. Tonight, though, he shot 8-for-13 to lead all scorers.

“It’s all about going to the next game,” Fair said. “You can’t dwell on a good or bad game.”

Trevor Cooney scored a career-high 33 points and tied a school record with nine three-pointers in the win.

Every time Notre Dame looked like it was going upset No. 1 Syracuse, the unlikeliest of heroes swooped in to save the day.

Rather, he swished in.

Trevor Cooney, who averaged 13.2 points-per-game going into Monday’s game, shot 9-of-15 from behind the arc to lift the Orange (22-0, 9-0 ACC) past a scrappy Fighting Irish quad, 61-55. Cooney scored a career-high 33 points and tied a Syracuse record with nine three-pointers in the game, also a career best.

At one point during No. 2 Syracuse’s dramatic 91-89 overtime victory over No. 17 Duke Saturday, C.J. Fair looked up at the 35,446 screaming fans, turned to Jerami Grant and said, “This is awesome.”

Tyler Ennis did something similar. Ennis said he stopped for one minute and just looked around to see how many people were actually watching the game.

There were signs that bashed Justin Bieber and Duke (simultaneously), as well as great puns created from the letters E-S-P-N. But which one was the best?

One great part of ESPN College GameDay is the signs fans make to display behind Rece Davis, Jalen Rose, Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas. They can be anything created from timely new stories to play on words to just plan weird.

Here are The NewsHouse's top ten signs seen at ESPN College GameDay, excluding big heads:

Rece Davis, Jalen Rose, Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas pumped up a crowded SU student section eight and a half hours before the Orange take on Duke at 6:30 p.m.

If the Syracuse-Duke game Saturday night is the main course, than ESPN College GameDay was the appetizer. Hundreds fans packed the stands behind the GameDay desk, cheering and screaming with signs and banners, creating one of the loudest and entertaining atmospheres on ESPN's weekly college basketball morning show.

"I don't know how many people there were," Jay Bilas said after the show, "but there were a lot."

The No. 2 Orange host No. 17 Duke Saturday in a match-up of perennial basketball powerhouses.

It’s the game most basketball fans have waited for since Syracuse first announced it was joining the ACC in 2013.

Friend versus friend. Boeheim versus Krzyzewski. Syracuse versus Duke.

Between the coaches, there have been over 1,800 wins, five NCAA Division I National Championships, and two gold medals in the last two summer Olympics.

But on Saturday, the two long-time friends will be on opposite sides of the court for the first time since Duke knocked Syracuse out of the Sweet Sixteen in 1998. The Blue Devils bested the Orange then, 80-67.
