No. 2 Boston College (20-0-0) was tied with Syracuse (8-10-2) for all of 2 minutes and 1 second before senior center Alex Carpenter, silver medalist in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics with the US, opened the scoring for the Eagles. Carpenter ended up putting the puck in the net 3 more times during the contest, netting 4 in total, in what was a dominant performance.

Crunch game highlights Frozen Dome Classic

The AHL squad will battle the Utica Comets in the Carrier Dome's first ice hockey game on Nov. 22.

Carrier Dome managing director Peter Sala has joked that his venue is football stadium that thinks it's a hockey rink.

But this November, it will be an actual ice hockey rink for the first time.

At a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Syracuse Crunch owner Howard Dolgon announced that his team will take on the Utica Comets inside the Carrier Dome as part of the Frozen Dome Classic on Nov. 22.

More than 21,000 attend the first outdoor game in American Hockey League history, and kick off the event with grilling, games and drinking.

A record-setting crowd came to the New York State fairgrounds to watch the Syracuse Crunch edge out the Binghamton Senators by a score of 2-1 in the first outdoor game in American Hockey League history.  Fans were excited and appreciative of the opportunity to witness such a historic event.

“I think it’s great that (Crunch owner) Howard Dolgon actually took it on his shoulders and got the thing going,” said Crunch fan Brian Chapman of Conquest, N.Y.
