Final Four

March 30, 2016 - 6:46pm
With Houston and Indianapolis only a few days away, the Syracuse community had a chance to cheer on their teams.

Syracuse marked a historic season for their men’s and women’s basketball teams by holding a pep rally at Manley Field House on Wednesday afternoon.

The event helped celebrate both teams advancing to the Final Four for the first time in school history, and just the 13th time in NCAA history a school has pulled off the feat.

Syracuse fans young and old packed the bleachers in Manley to see the teams off. Both Jim Boeheim and Quentin Hillsman joined their players onstage to show their appreciation.

SU gets revenge over conference foe Boston College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0

The last time No. 6 Syracuse lost a game was on October 30th in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It was the regular season finale for the Orange against the Boston College Eagles. BC scored two first-half goals and Syracuse couldn’t overcome the deficit, falling 2-1. This time around things would be different.

The SU head coach emphasized the cleanliness of his team and expressed displeasure with the NCAA's rulings two weeks ago.

For those who have always thought or wondered, SU men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim made it abundantly clear Thursday morning.

He does not run Syracuse University, and his time with the program is running out.

During a press conference at the Carrier Dome, Boeheim addressed his intention to file an appeal with the NCAA regarding his nine-game suspension, handed down March 6 following an investigation into multiple violations by the program, as well as the claim that he plans to retire in three seasons.

Kayla Treanor and Alyssa Murray combined for 10 goals to power the Orange in a 16-8 victory.

TOWSON, Md. — Senior attack Alyssa Murray remembers all too well the feeling of losing in the national championship game, as Syracuse did in 2012 to Northwestern. So once the Orange played its way to a third-consecutive championship weekend, she remained more determined than ever to help the team return home with a title.

On Friday, she came one step closer to accomplishing her goal.

With under three minutes in the game an a two-score deficit, the Orange scored three unanswered goals to defeat Denver, 9-8.

PHILADELPHIA - With a two-man advantage, down two goals with just three minutes left, the struggling Syracuse offense had its chance to make a late surge.

It did just that.

A late comeback by the Orange was not enough to ruin the Terrapins undefeated season.

PHILADELPHIA - The Orange surmounted a rally, a second half comeback, to take its first lead of the game against a tough, undefeated No. 1 Maryland Terrapin squad.

It didn’t last long. Just 100 seconds.

Maryland (23-0) regained its lead, scoring with under three minutes left to end Syracuse’s season in the Final Four with an 11-10 loss to the Terrapins Friday night.

After a back-and-forth battle with Florida, the SU women's lacrosse team held off the Gators to reach its third consecutive Final Four.

We didn’t have time to let the Jello shots set.

“Oh my god!” my roommate Susie squealed from her room as my friend Nik tapped the jiggly contents of one of the orange rinds in our fridge skeptically, “The line at Chuck's is already so long!”
