Photographers explore the the New York State Fairgrounds in search of moments and images that capture the annual event.

Midway rides. Fried foods. Animal exhibits. Live music.

For nearly two weeks at the close of every summer, the New York State Fair serves up these in hopes of generating memories for hundreds of thousands of people.

With a wide array or entertainment, exhibits and foods, the opportunities seem endless for nearly 1 million visitors expected during the 12-day event.

A lack of sunshine couldn't dampen the storied Westcott neighborhood's unique offering of food, art and culture.

For Westcott residents and neighbors, overcast skies and a lack of sunshine couldn’t put a damper on the 23rd iteration of the Westcott Street Cultural Fair.  Despite the miserable weather, the people, food and vibrant culture of the historic Westcott neighborhood seemed to shine even brighter.

“What makes Westcott unique is the mix of different people that we have here. The energy and the activism of the neighborhood that you won’t see anywhere else,” said Marcellus resident Sondra Bromka.

Stop by the "Save the Rain" program Saturday, Sept. 22 to learn about the Onondaga Lake cleanup and other sustainability efforts around Syracuse.

Rain or shine, “Save the Rain,” a program dedicated to reducing pollution in Onondaga Lake, will host the 2012 Clean Water Fair this Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m.—2 p.m. at the Metropolitan Wastewater Treatment Plant. The fair will update visitors on “Save the Rain” projects.

Maxwell hosts multicultural fair.

The International Relations Student Association hosted the "Cultures in Collaboration" Multicultural Fair at Maxwell on Thursday.  The fair became a fusion of food, song and dance as more than 20 campus and community groups set up booths. These featured the Haitian Student Association, Women Transcending Boundaries and the American Red Cross.
