The eight coaches of the Big East converged on Newport, Rhode Island for the conference's annual pre-season media day. With so much change on the horizon in the conference, now is the time to shine.

In an off-season where no conference was safe, the Big East somehow managed to not only lose any teams to the expanding Big Ten and the rumors of mega-conferences, but also add Texas Christian University,...

With only 32 days until Syracuse's season opener against Wake Forest, the status of one of SU's top offensive weapons became very hazy Friday night. The White squad beat the Blue squad Saturday in the Syracuse football Spring game, 13-7, in part to a one-yard touchdown run by tailback Antwon Bailey.

Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone decided to bring a change to this year’s spring game, which is normally just a scripted, glorified scrimmage. Instead, Marrone split his coaching staff and team into two and spent his time observing the two squads from about 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Syracuse announced the addition of 27 student-athletes Wednesday, as most recruits announced their commitments on National Signing Day.

Punxsutawney Phil saw more than just his shadow Wednesday. He also saw the future of SU football, as Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone announced the addition of 27 new recruits on National Signing Day.

Eleven of those recruits are New York natives, a statistic that Marrone was happy with as he tries to get Syracuse back into traditional recruiting areas.

Syracuse outlasts Kansas State to win a thrilling inaugural Pinstripe Bowl 36-34 at Yankee Stadium.

With resilience, a few trick plays, and one of the best running backs in program history, the Orange won its first bowl game since 2001. At the end of it all, Doug Marrone nearly broke down in tears on the sidelines at Yankee Stadium.

“When you haven’t gone to a bowl game since 2004 and had a winning season since 2001, the first step is to create that as a goal,” Marrone said. “We needed to come out with a good performance so we could carry ourselves over for the challenge we face in the future.”

Bringing Syracuse its first bowl victory in almost a decade is a good start.

Syracuse accepted its first bowl bid in six years by accepting the chance to play in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium on Dec. 30.

For six years the Syracuse Football team has sat at home for the holidays, but now the Orange is taking over the Big Apple heading to its first bowl game since 2004, the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

SU Athletic Director Daryl Gross made the announcement Thursday, where he was happy to reward the Orange with a trip to New York City for the Dec. 30 bowl.

Syracuse drops its season finale to finish off a dismal 2010 home season.

Syracuse capped off a lackluster home season Saturday as they fell to former conference rival Boston College, 16-7. The Orange offense sputtered most of the game and BC running back Andre Williams had a career day, as the Orange dropped their fourth straight in the Carrier Dome.

After jumping out to a 7-3 start and securing the school’s first bowl game since 2004, the Orange had a chance to compete for a BCS bowl. Instead, Syracuse sputtered down the stretch, dropping its final two games with uninspiring performances.

The Orange finished off its conference season with a 23-6 home loss to the disappointment of the Carrier Dome crowd.

Syracuse University football has been rejuvenated this year no doubt. The clinching of bowl eligibility is proof. But as much as this team has improved, last night’s offensively stagnant 23-6 loss to the Connecticut Huskies at the Carrier Dome showed how much room for improvement there is.

Ross Krautman's 24-yard field goal pushed the Orange past Rutgers and helped Syracuse pick up its seventh win of the season to become bowl eligible.

Add another game to Syracuse’s schedule. SU kept its conference road record unblemished and became bowl eligible for the first time since 2004 as they beat Rutgers Saturday, 13-10.

Freshman kicker Ross Krautman connected on two field goals – a career-long 48 yarder and a go-ahead 24 yarder with 1:07 to play to guarantee the Orange a winning season and keep them in the hunt for the conference title. Going into the game Krautman – a New Jersey native – was excited about the possibility of kicking a game-winning field goal in his home state.

Louisville shocked SU, ruining the party and making the Orange wait another week to clinch bowl eligibility.

There was a celebration Saturday afternoon on the Carrier Dome's Legends Field, but it was not being performed by the Syracuse University football players or the 40,735 fans in attendance. Both saw the first attempt at securing bowl eligibility slip through their fingers as Louisville ran onto the field in victory at the conclusion of a game marred by missed opportunities and penalties.
