The Orange men's lacrosse team started strong and cruised to a 19-6 win over the Raiders.

The No. 4 Syracuse men’s lacrosse team showed no signs of any kind of post-ACC Tournament hangover Saturday, as the Orange rolled over Colgate,19-6, at the Carrier Dome. The Orange came out strong early and never looked back, giving their seniors a good memory for their last home game.

“Today was a great game for us,” head coach John Desko said. “I thought we came out and played well in all facets of the game. I was very happy with the way everyone played right from the start.”

After losing to Duke in the 2013 division 1 men's lacrosse championship, Syracuse has the makings of team ready for another title run, with depth on offense and defense.

A loss in the national title game isn’t something you ever forget, ever truly get over, especially not when a 6-1 lead against Duke evaporates, as face-off after face-off went the other way, the Orange’s offense forced to simply watch their season slip away.

Nearly eight months later, and the end seems like almost yesterday.

Dylan Donahue's goal with 13 seconds remaining lifted the Orange past Yale and into its 27th NCAA Tournament semifinal.

After finishing the season with eight straight one-goal games, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team entered Saturday's contest against Ivy League tournament champion Yale confident in its ability to win close.

That experience paid off, and it landed the Orange in familiar territory.

The national semifinals.

Seniors Luke Cometti and JoJo Marasco helped the Orange outscore Rutgers, 7-1 in the fourth quarter for a 12-11 victory.

For three and a half quarters, it looked like a classic trap game.

No. 7 Syracuse (9-2, 3-1 Big East) was being outhustled, outmanned and outscored by two-win Rutgers, days after dramatic wins at No. 9 Princeton and over No. 2 Cornell.

A back-and-forth battle between Central New York lacrosse powerhouses ended with an Orange victory in the Carrier Dome Wednesday night.

The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team only led for six minutes and 15 seconds in Wednesday night’s rivalry game against No. 2 Cornell (10-2).

But it was the only six minutes of the game that mattered.

Henry Schoonmaker scored his second goal more than midway through the fourth quarter, giving the Orange a 12-11 lead. No. 7 Syracuse (8-2) held on for a 13-12 victory, snapping a two-game losing streak against the Big Red, who won last year’s meeting in a 12-6 home rout.

No. 9 cruised to a 17-5 victory over Canisius behind Rice and Maltz.

Kevin Rice hasn’t always had the most opportunities to score in Syracuse’s remarkably deep offensive output. But Rice, a sophomore attackman, made use of every chance he had in a dominating win over Canisius.

The Orange become the first ever Big East tournament champions with a win over St. John's.

It was another easy day for the Orange men's lacrosse team as it cruised by the St. John's Red Storm in the inaugural Big East lacrosse tournament championship. Syracuse shut down St. John's in the first half, heading into the locker room up 7-0. The second half was a lot more relaxed. The Orange got a lot of subs into the game and ended up with a 12-4 victory.

Here are my three thoughts from the game:

1. Consistency is key...

The Orange dominated Villanova on its home turf in the opening round of the Big East Tournament in Philadelphia

It was a close game for the first half of the Big East Tournament semifinal, but the back-and-forth game didn't last for long. The Orange led 6-4 at the half but a nine goal second half and a scoreless fourth quarter for the Wildcats gave Syracuse a 15-6 victory.

Here are three thoughts from the game:

1. Bobby Eilers is dangerous against a short-stick...

Syracuse couldn't battle back from a three-goal deficit to beat rival Georgetown in a Big East matchup

The motto for the Syracuse Orange lacrosse team this season is "head, heart, hustle." The Orange showed none of those three H's in today's 10-8 loss to Georgetown. A spotlight was shined on the team's seniors before the game, honoring the last time they took the field in the Carrier Dome. But that spotlight went out as soon as the first quarter began.

The Orange lose consecutive games for the first time since 2007.

It was a rainy Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the Konic Minolta Big City Classic as the No. 14 Syracuse Orange (4-4) fell to the No. 8 Duke Blue Devils (9-3). The Orange came out strong in the first quarter, jumping out to a 3-1 lead. Duke took a one-goal lead into halftime and then a three-goal lead in the third quarter. The Orange stormed back to tie the game, but a series of bad turnovers resulted in a Duke victory. This was the first time that Duke has beaten Syracuse since 1978.
