Modern Malt is not just a typical diner. As it's name implies, it puts a modern twist on some of America's most loved foods. If you order a grilled cheese, expect to find apples inside. In the mood for French toast? Modern Malt serves them coated in Fruity Pebbles. This is all thanks to Executive Chef Anthony Donofrio, who has been the creative mind behind the menu since the restaurant opened just over two years ago.

Doc's Little Gem Diner on the Westside shuts down due to financial troubles.

Doc's Little Gem Diner, a favorite for students and people throughout Syracuse, closed its doors Wednesday after struggling to climb out of bankruptcy.

The owner Francis "Doc" Good said he needed to expand the space in order to keep the restaurant afloat with the business of more customers, according to Syracuse.com.  Good said the smoking ban and tough economic times also kept customers away.
