For the second straight road game, Syracuse held off a higher ranked team to win on the road as they beat Georgetown Saturday, 58-51.

In the latest chapter of one of the Big East’s fiercest rivalries, No. 20 Syracuse pulled out a 58-51 road upset over No. 11 Georgetown. The Orange improved to 24-6 overall and 11-6 in the conference.

Junior Scoop Jardine led the way for the Orange with a game-high 17 points. Jardine also dished out seven assists to help ruin Senior Day for the Hoyas.

The loss of senior point guard Chris Wright clearly hurt Georgetown on both sides of the court. Wright had surgery on his left hand after a collision in the loss to Cincinnati earlier this week.

Syracuse used contributions from a trio of Philadelphia natives to help the Orange pick up a big road win and even the season series with Villanova.

Two nights removed from a lackluster performance at home against Rutgers, Syracuse responded with what may have been its best win to date. The Orange played one of their best defensive games of the season to upset No. 14 Villanova Monday, 69-64.

Led by a trio of Philadelphia-born players, the Orange used a smothering defense and caused the Wildcats to miss 16 of their first 17 field goal attempts – including a drought of nearly nine minutes early in the game. As a team, Villanova was held to 32 percent from the field and a dismal 19 percent (5-of-26) from 3-point range.

Behind the aggressive play of sophomore guard Brandon Triche, Syracuse erased a four-point halftime deficit to blow past Big East foe West Virginia in the second half for a 63-52 Valentine's Day victory.

After losing three consecutive home games and two consecutive road games, the Orange are hoping to stop the bleeding Monday night as they host Big East rival West Virginia.

Following a disappointing loss to Louisville Saturday, Syracuse returns home to the Carrier Dome to play Big East foe West Virginia. The Orange are looking to pick up a home win for the first time in more than a month, since beating Cincinnati January 15.

After its 18-0 start to the season, the Orange (20-6, 7-6) have won only two of their last eight games. During this stretch, defense has been a major issue, as the Orange are allowing 11 more points per game than they did during their first 20 games.
