The Orange look determined to continue its winning ways after defeating a strong opponent in Seattle, 3-1, on Sunday.

It's been an incredible season for Orange athletics. Just a few weeks ago, the Syracuse field hockey and cross country teams won national championships. Now, the men's soccer team has punched its first-ever ticket to the Elite Eight. It's not a national championship, yet, but the team is only three wins away- which to expect wouldn't be too outlandish.

In what almost seemed scripted, Orange give victorious send off to its beloved leader.

Hardnosed, tough-minded and gutsy. These superlatives often have open-ended definitions, and are cliché terms in the world of sports. How one term differentiates from another is challenging for even the most skilled of linguists.

This marks the fourth-straight season SU has failed to reach a bowl game.

In the final home game of the season, Syracuse showed few signs of life as it was beaten by Boston College 42-14, finishing the season on a five-game losing streak.

With Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey out and backup Zack Mahoney suited up for his final game, it appeared that it’d be all set for the senior from LaGrange Park, Illinois to have one last chance of glory. And while he did see playing time, it was a lot less frequent.

Orange scores two goals in second half to remain undefeated in 2016

The top-ranked Syracuse Orange field hockey team scored two goals in the second half of play following a 1-1 tie to edge past No. 18 Boston College on Friday afternoon, 3-1. This was Syracuse's first time playing on its new field, which was upgraded this past summer.

After starting conference play with four losses, Syracuse beat the Eagles, 62-40 in the Carrier Dome.

Four players scored in the double-digits for the Orange as it was a dominant team performance that propelled Syracuse to its first ACC victory. Freshman Malachi Richardson recorded a game-high 15 points while going 6-6 from the foul line. Graduate Michael Gbinije tallied 14 points, six rebounds and four steals, and junior Tyler Roberson earned his third double-double of the season, hauling in 12 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Senior DaJuan Coleman joined the action tallying 10 points of his own.

SU gets revenge over conference foe Boston College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, 1-0

The last time No. 6 Syracuse lost a game was on October 30th in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It was the regular season finale for the Orange against the Boston College Eagles. BC scored two first-half goals and Syracuse couldn’t overcome the deficit, falling 2-1. This time around things would be different.

Despite a self-imposed post-season ban, SU players can't afford to coast through February.

“I don’t give a s--- what those people think. I know what I’ve done, and I know what we do, and I’m proud of it.”

With Rakeem Christmas battling foul trouble, the Orange's secondary scoring options led the team to a rebound win.

For 17 minutes of Syracuse’s game against Boston College, Orange center Rakeem Christmas found himself in an unfamiliar place:  the SU bench.

Syracuse’s leading scorer couldn’t escape foul trouble on Tuesday night, but his teammates stepped up in his absence.  Four other Orange players scored in double figures to lead the Orange (14-5, 5-1 Atlantic Coast) to a 69-61 victory over the Eagles (8-9, 0-5 Atlantic Coast).

An inefficient C.J. Fair combined with a deadly three-point barrage by the Golden Eagles ended SU's undefeated season.

Luck isn’t everlasting, and Syracuse found that out the hard way Wednesday night when it lost in overtime Boston College, 62-59. The loss is the first for the Orange after they started the season winning the first 25 games in a row, one of them coming against the Golden Eagles last month.

“I’m really happy that we’ve won 25 games,” head coach Jim Boeheim said. “That’s a great thing, but we can’t be thinking about that.”

February 15, 2014 - 11:15pm
C.J. Fair scored with seconds left on the clock to push the Orange past the Wolfpack in one of Syracuse's worst games of the season.

Syracuse has shown a flair for the dramatic this week, finding the most exhilarating ways to close out games. After Tyler Ennis’ buzzer beater downed Pittsburgh Wednesday, the Orange pulled off a miraculous win again, this time winning 56-55 over North Carolina State (16-9, 6-6 ACC).
