After being open for more than two months, Wolff’s Biergarten continues to serve a niche demographic in Central New York: Syracusans who enjoy European beer and soccer.

Patrick Farrell talks bar brawls and overheard gossip at a popular college bar.

Patrick Farrell perches on a stool in a dimly lit corner of the bustling bar that’s filled with intoxicated college students. He wears a backward Yankees cap and a mustard-yellow T-shirt with a haunting clown face (the bar’s logo) scrawled across the front. After adjusting his cap and checking his watch, he continues scanning the crowd. To his right, students squeeze their way toward the bar to buy pitchers of beer. But as he looks to his left, he sees a man with his hands around another’s neck.

Singers Karaoke Club in Solvay offers a welcoming atmosphere and fresh alternative to Syracuse night life.

 Go to Singers Karaoke Bar long enough and you might end up working there. That was the case for three Singers employees, all of whom were drawn in by the bar’s fun, welcoming atmosphere.

DJ Carmen Angiolillo (DJ Fixx), maintenance staffer Ryan Naylor, and bartender Sarah “Cookie” Cook started as regular customers but hung around the place so much they were eventually hired. One night Cook threw out a customer acting out of line. Owner Holly Berlin liked what she saw and soon hired Cook as a full-time bartender.

Dance: Join La Familia de Salsa where you will not only pick up some saucy dance moves but some great friends as well.

Who: La Familia de la Salsa began in 2004 as a Salsa/Rueda demo team. It has now grown to one of the largest Latin dance organizations in Upstate New York.

What: La Familia offers classes Monday-Friday at different locations throughout the Syracuse area. Lessons are $60 for a six week series or $50 dollars for full-time students with school ID. Private lessons are available by appointment.
