The Orange defense was too much for Army to handle as they defeated the Black Knights, 73-56.

The No. 4 seed Syracuse women's basketball team dominated its first round matchup in the NCAA Tournament. The Orange jumped out to an early lead on Friday thanks to its stifling defense. SU pressed Army right from the start and took the Black Knights out of their comfort zone. Syracuse forced 14 first half turnovers and, before it was all over, Army had turned the ball over 23 times.

Syracuse had a successful weekend, winning two of three games. However, the Orange did lose their first conference game of the season, falling to Rutgers, 4-3.

It was a weekend of ups and downs for the Syracuse Orange. Dominating victories against Army and St. John’s, both 7-0, were slightly clouded by a close Sunday loss to conference rival Rutgers, 4-3.

Army ended Syracuse's hopes of a third straight National Championship last season, now the No. 2 Orange are looking for revenge when they host the No. 18 Black Knights Sunday.

The sting still has to be felt. Last season, with the SU men’s lacrosse team looking for a third straight NCAA national championship, Army would have none of it. The Black Knights upset SU in front of the Carrier Dome crowd in the first round of the tournament, 9-8, in double-overtime. Now, the Orange are looking for revenge.

Five different Syracuse players scored two goals and the Orange were never really threatened as they defeated Denver in their season opener, 13-7.

Following two lackluster scrimmages, the No. 1 ranked Syracuse lacrosse team finally got to take the field for a game that mattered. The Orange wasted little time showing why they’ve received such preseason hype, as they blew by Denver, 13-7.

Senior midfielder Jovan Miller started the route for the Orange with a 15-yard strike less than a minute into the contest, and Syracuse led 6-2 after just one period of action.
