For its third weekend retreat, Soulful Sit-Downs brought students to the Adirondacks for a weekend of relaxation and pondering life's big questions.

As Sean Martinelli handed out small gift bags, each with a pocket-sized journal in it, he instructed the recipients to stop what they were doing for a moment. Relax, he said, and leave your worries in Syracuse.

“Write what you feel," he said.

As the founder of Soulful Sit-Downs, Martinelli ’15 is also responsible for SOULscape — a spiritual weekend trip to the Adirondacks filled with deep discussion about life.

Several environmental conservation organizations, including the NYS DEC, have collaborated in a yearlong project tracking moose populations in upstate NY.

After months of tracking moose movements across Adirondack Park through collaring and collecting reported sightings, data from the Adirondack Moose Project’s second winter will be analyzed by late March.

During the first moose collaring back in January 2015, 12 moose were fitted with collars containing GPS transmitters that pinpointed their location every two hours. The GPS collars track habitat use and calf survival and health.

Two Clarkson University students hike all 46 Adirondack High Peaks to raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Kolby Ziemendorf, a mechanical engineering alumnus from Clarkson University, lost his high school classmate Greg Lombardo to depression and suicide in 2010. Rattled by this tragic incident, Ziemendorf, 22, struggled to find answers.

While sitting in church one day, an idea came to him: a way to honor Lombardo’s life. He would climb 46 peaks of the Adirondack Mountains in seven days to help raise awareness on this sensitive issue.
