SU will take on Georgetown, Virginia and Duke in the Carrier Dome

The ACC released its men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season on Monday afternoon, officially finalizing Syracuse’s 2016-17 slate of games.

The sophomore's nearly-perfect night in the face-off circle helps SU pull away in the second half.

Ben Williams’ dominance at the face-off X propelled Syracuse to a win over in-state rival Albany in a matchup tightly contested for much of Thursday evening at the Carrier Dome.

Williams won 24 of 27 face-offs for the No. 2 Orange (8-1, 2-1 Atlantic Coast) against Albany (7-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast) before being pulled in the middle of the fourth quarter as SU emerged victorious, 17-12.

After not scoring for nearly a month, the sophomore helped the Cardinals pull away in the second half.

Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said he had a conversation with reserve guard Anton Gill earlier this week and told the sophomore he was “mentally in a funk.”

But instead of giving Pitino lip service, Gill responded with a promise that he would be ready to play. So when Pitino was forced to go to his bench in the second half of Friday’s East Regional at the Carrier Dome against North Carolina State, he chose Gill over Shaqquan Aaron at the three-spot.

Then Gill delivered on his promise in the biggest way.

Double-doubles by Christmas and Roberson not enough as Wolfpack pulls away in the second half.

Just one day after the NCAA levied significant sanctions against the Syracuse men's basketball program, the regular season came to a bitter end Saturday afternoon.

Rakeem Christmas scored 15 points and added 12 rebounds in his final game for SU, but it wasn't enough to keep N.C. State from handing the Orange a season-ending loss, 71-57.

February 21, 2015 - 5:04pm
The Orange shot a dismal 28 percent in the first frame and couldn't pull through in a very physical contest.

With Syracuse trailing by one point with 40 seconds remaining, Michael Gbinije saw Rakeem Christmas coming to the top of the key to set a ball screen.

He saw Christmas set his feet, or so he thought, and decided to drive through the lane for a potential game-tying shot. But before he could get there, he heard a whistle.

Illegal screen on the big man.

February 4, 2015 - 12:51pm
The junior's buzzer beater helped SU overcome a sloppy performance on both ends of the court.

Although it came one calendar day after the actual holiday, Syracuse’s showdown against Virginia Tech on Tuesday night felt like something out of the hit 1993 film “Groundhog Day.” Just as Bill Murray’s character lived the same exact day again and again, the Orange followed the same exact script on its home floor.

Struggle to make shots early on, pull even by halftime, fall behind by a sizable margin, and attempt a furious comeback in the closing minutes.

January 21, 2015 - 5:06pm
With Rakeem Christmas battling foul trouble, the Orange's secondary scoring options led the team to a rebound win.

For 17 minutes of Syracuse’s game against Boston College, Orange center Rakeem Christmas found himself in an unfamiliar place:  the SU bench.

Syracuse’s leading scorer couldn’t escape foul trouble on Tuesday night, but his teammates stepped up in his absence.  Four other Orange players scored in double figures to lead the Orange (14-5, 5-1 Atlantic Coast) to a 69-61 victory over the Eagles (8-9, 0-5 Atlantic Coast).

January 2, 2015 - 12:01pm
Without a signature win to its credit, SU is hoping for a strong push during conference play to bolster its tournament chances.

Since the Orange’s opening victory against Kennesaw State on Nov. 14, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim has repeatedly said his team has the potential and talent to win any game. All it needed was time, both for key underclassmen to find an offensive flow and the team’s confidence to return to a level not seen since last season’s 25-game winning streak.

But as the Orange’s second slate of Atlantic Coast Conference games began Saturday at Virginia Tech, that time officially ran out.

October 20, 2014 - 5:28pm
A pair of defensive touchdowns propels SU to its first conference victory.

More than 25,000 fans were sprinkled in the stands on a sunny afternoon at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., to see two Atlantic Coast Conference teams battle for their first conference victory this season.

Instead, they witnessed a Syracuse blowout.

The Orange (3-4) scored two defensive touchdowns and piled up 199 rushing yards to rout Wake Forest, 30-7.

September 9, 2014 - 1:17pm
Games against Notre Dame, North Carolina highlight home lineup.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its complete women's basketball schedule for the 2014-15 season Tuesday morning, according to Syracuse Athletics.

Syracuse, which enters its second season in the ACC, will play 16 conference games. Eight of those will be held at the Carrier Dome.

The Orange opens conference play on Jan. 4 in the Dome against 2014 national finalist Notre Dame. Seven total games will come against opponents from last season's NCAA Tournament field.
