The Orange men's lacrosse team started strong and cruised to a 19-6 win over the Raiders.

The No. 4 Syracuse men’s lacrosse team showed no signs of any kind of post-ACC Tournament hangover Saturday, as the Orange rolled over Colgate,19-6, at the Carrier Dome. The Orange came out strong early and never looked back, giving their seniors a good memory for their last home game.

“Today was a great game for us,” head coach John Desko said. “I thought we came out and played well in all facets of the game. I was very happy with the way everyone played right from the start.”

Austin Wilson, one of four quarterbacks to play Saturday, scored two second-half touchdowns to push the Offense past the defense.

It wasn’t quite football on Saturday at the Carrier Dome, but for the 4,071 fans in attendance who sat through a very long winter, the 2014 SU Football Spring Game was enough. The Offense beat the Defense, 34-27, thanks to two second-half touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Austin Wilson.

Trevor Cooney scored 18 points and the No. 3-seeded Orange blew past the No. 14 seed Broncos.

BUFFALO - Trevor Cooney’s first shot was a miss.

But he shook it off, and less than a minute after that attempt, and only three minutes into the game against Western Michigan, the sophomore sharpshooter whistled in his first three-pointer, igniting a pro-Orange crowd of over 19,000 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

“It was just good to see one go in,” Cooney said. “I was able to get into a good rhythm and guys found me in good spots.”

TJ Warren scores 28 as the Wolfpack slips past Syracuse, 66-63, in the Orange's first ACC tournament appearance.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The end seemed so familiar to Syracuse. Down by three points with about six minutes to go, Friday’s ACC quarterfinal against N.C. State mirrored the game played at the Carrier Dome on Feb. 15.

But this time, instead of a phenomenal defensive play resulting in a C.J. Fair layup to win the game, Syracuse missed six shots in the final seconds in a 66-63 loss to N.C. State in Greensboro.

No. 4 Syracuse failed to score more than 63 points for the ninth consecutive game in the 67-62 loss to Georgia Tech.

Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim’s message after the game was short and simple: “We have to score,” he said. “That’s the problem.”

Coming off a brutal 67-62 home loss to Georgia Tech (14-16, 5-12 ACC), No. 4 Syracuse (26-4, 13-4 ACC) has not scored more than 62 points since its dramatic 91-89 overtime victory over Duke on Feb. 1. That win was over a month ago, and the Orange only averaged 58.4 points-per-game since then.

March 1, 2014 - 10:19pm
The Cavaliers scored 48 second-half points to beat the Orange, 75-56.

Syracuse came into Charlottesville, Va., determined to prove that it was the best team in the ACC. Unfortunately for the Orange, they did not spoil the Cavalier’s Senior Day, falling 75-56. The loss extended the No. 12 Virginia (25-5, 16-1 ACC) win streak to 13 games and gave the Cavaliers their first outright ACC regular season championship since 1981.

“From what I’ve seen, Virginia has been the best team in the league so far this year,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said. “They proved that today.”

After dominating Syracuse on face-offs, everything else fell into place for Maryland in the win.

After months of speculation and discussion, the entire Syracuse men's lacrosse program has to be tired of talking about its problems at the X.

An inefficient C.J. Fair combined with a deadly three-point barrage by the Golden Eagles ended SU's undefeated season.

Luck isn’t everlasting, and Syracuse found that out the hard way Wednesday night when it lost in overtime Boston College, 62-59. The loss is the first for the Orange after they started the season winning the first 25 games in a row, one of them coming against the Golden Eagles last month.

“I’m really happy that we’ve won 25 games,” head coach Jim Boeheim said. “That’s a great thing, but we can’t be thinking about that.”

February 18, 2014 - 4:09pm
In 100 simulations, the Orange beat the Shockers by an average 1.6 points.

The nation thinks No. 1 Syracuse (25-0, 12-0 ACC) is the best team in country, but the Orange isn’t the only team left without a number in the loss column. The Wichita State Shockers, number three in AP poll, join SU as the only remaining unbeaten team. The Shockers (27-0, 14-0 MV), out of the Missouri Valley conference, have breezed through their conference, averaging about 75 points-per-game.

February 16, 2014 - 10:05pm
Henry Schoonmaker scored the winning goal 28 seconds into overtime to keep the Orange undefeated.

Almost a year ago to the day, the Syracuse men’s lacrosse team lost a heartbreaking home opener to the Albany Great Danes in double overtime. But this season, No. 1 Syracuse (2-0) would avenge that loss in about the same way No. 10 Albany (0-1) won last year.
