Professor Margaret Voss works with professor Stephen Teale to preserve the endangered Darwin's finch while continuing her work as a professor at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

One sunny afternoon, Margaret Voss examined several bird nest boxes with her colleague in the backyard of his home in Fabius, New York.

“They’re home to any species that wants to move in,” Voss said as she unscrewed the small wooden door to a box. As they peered inside, they commented on the appearance of the nests briefly before moving onto the next one. The scene unfolded like any two bird enthusiasts enjoying a day outdoors.

More than 2,200 alumni came to campus to celebrate all things Orange.

While students unwound Thursday after a week of midterm exams, over 2,200 alumni poured onto campus for Orange Central 2017. A celebration of the ‘Cuse community, Orange Central is a chance for alumni to reconnect through events, activities, and planned reunions, but the whole campus community is encouraged to participate. This year, over 50 activities were planned.

Review: The 'Silicon Valley' star let it all hang out in a loose, improvisational set.

Syracuse University students and alumni were treated to an evening of new jokes and unique moments thanks to The Lucas Brothers and T.J. Miller, presented by University Union.

As the audience was still filing into the Goldstein Auditorium Saturday night, Syracuse University’s Homecoming Court was introduced on stage. Brandyn Mumford and LaNia Roberts were crowned king and queen, respectively, of 2017 SU Homecoming.

In front of over 33,000 fans, Syracuse was winning most of the second half.

Eric Dungey threw two touchdown passes and ran one in himself, finishing with a total of 413 yards. Syracuse’s (3-3, 1-1 ACC) defense kept Pitt (2-4, 0-2 ACC) from converting a third down until the fourth quarter, finishing 3-of-13, and the Orange beat the Panthers 27-24 Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse’s win over Pitt is its first in five years. The Panthers were 4-0 against the Orange since both joined the ACC in 2013 and had won 11 of the last 12 meetings between the two.

Syracuse are still looking for their first ACC win of the season.

Syracuse men’s soccer was defeated by North Carolina State 2-1 after an aggressive match at SU Soccer Stadium on Friday night.

SU and NC State started off trying to claim dominance on the field from the beginning. After six minutes of play, NC State was on the board with a goal coming from Julius Duchsherer, after getting the rebound from Aide Taiwo’s shot.

Syracuse University’s original DIY venue is long gone, but not quite forgotten.

The drinks, cheap. The music, loud. The times, interesting.

From 1969 to 1985, the current location of the Maker Space in Syracuse University’s Kimmel Hall was known as the Jabberwocky Cafe or "Jab" for short. Known for several murals on the walls themed after Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," the on-campus bar and music venue borrowed its name from "The Jabberwocky," a poem written by Carroll about the slaying of the mythical Jabberwock.

NPR "Morning Edition" and "Up First" podcast host David Greene spoke in Hendricks Chapel Tuesday night on topics ranging from his proudest moments in journalism to the lack of sleep he gets to fake news.

Concert Review: the 75-year-old former Beach Boy performed the seminal 'Pet Sounds' in its entirety during a show that lasted more than two hours.

On Sunday night, 900 fans met at The Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater to watch Brian Wilson perform the entirety of his album, Pet Sounds as well as other hits from his long career. Over the course of the two-plus hour show, Wilson and the eleven other musicians who joined him on stage played more than 25 songs from the Beach Boys’ and Wilson’s own repertoire.

Syracuse Orange lose 33-25 to NC State on Sept. 30; Steve Ishmael among standout players

Each week while players are filling up the stat sheets with personal accolades, the Orange are again forced to celebrate those successes while swallowing another team defeat. After Saturday’s loss to ACC foe NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina, the 2-3 team is still searching for a winning formula that involves more than just a few men.
