Last season, Alec Lemon wasn’t regarded as much of an offensive weapon, but he’s doing his part early in the 2011 campaign to reassert himself as the best in the Orange arsenal.

Syracuse University (2-1, 2-0 home) football fans are accustomed to seeing Alec Lemon catching the football. The junior racked up 61 receptions in his first two seasons and added 24 more in the first three games of 2011.

But throwing it was a sight that had SU fans on edge.

The Syracuse football team could not stop the Trojans aerial attack, losing, 38-17.

On a day with reports of Syracuse University heading to the Atlantic Coast Conference, a Pacific-12 offense gave the Orange more than they could handle.

The Orange start slow once again, but survive visiting Rhode Island to stay undefeated.

It wasn’t pretty, but SU’s football team held off the potential upset bid by the Rhode Island Rams with a pair of clutch interceptions by safety Phillip Thomas and a career day from quarterback Ryan Nassib. After the game, head coach Doug Marrone expressed frustration in the mistakes “pretty much everyone” on his team made, but still stressed the importance of the bigger picture.

The Orange struggles early, but finds its rhythm to come back against Wake Forest in overtime.

In the blink of an eye, SU's football team took over.

What seemed to be a slumping offense turned out to be a sleeping giant courtesy of a 53-yard touchdown run by Antwon Bailey. Ironic considering Bailey’s fumble earlier in the quarter set up what seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the Orange.

Only one week removed from two offseason incidents, Doug Marrone addresses both issues as well as his team's 2011 goals at SU's annual media day.

When it comes to the 2011 football season, Syracuse University head coach Doug Marrone isn’t mincing words about what he expects from his team.

Assistant equipment manager George Frank has learned the art of keeping one the nation's top college teams ready for battle.

When the Syracuse lacrosse team ran out onto the field in its NCAA quarterfinal game against Maryland, it sported new neon yellow gear. Created by Nike and Cascade, the Volt color was meant to amp up the players while distracting the opposing team.

The lacrosse team was sportingly outfitted on the field, but the man behind equipping each player worked for six days to organize, distribute and fit each player with the neon gear.

Maryland's Grant Catalino delivers a dagger in the final minute of sudden-death overtime to end the Orange’s NCAA tournament run.

It was a thrilling playoff finish that Syracuse lacrosse had become accustomed to in recent years. Only this time, the Orange didn't come out on top.

The unseeded Maryland Terrapins came back from an early deficit Sunday to defeat the No. 1-seeded SUY in overtime, 6-5. The quarterfinals loss sends Maryland to contend for the NCAA lacrosse title next weekend in Baltimore while SU will watch the Final Four from home for the second year in a row.

SUNY ESF's Trout Bums fishing club has found college students on The Hill who are passionate about outdoors traditions.

Late nights of revelry seem typical for most college students. But instead of standing in the line at Chuck's Cafe, imagine standing along the banks of a river, hoping a trout will take your meticulously tied fly.

Fishing, once thought of as a hobby for people of an older generation, is picking up a younger crowd. Here in Syracuse at The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, one group is bringing the age-old pastime to student angling enthusiasts.

Syracuse jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then pulled away in the second half to defeat a pesky Siena squad 10-4 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Syracuse moved into the NCAA quarterfinals Sunday with a 10-4 win over Siena, avenging the shocking upset to Army a year ago.

Johns Hopkins transfer Tommy Palasek played a big role in getting the Orange out of the first round this season, having his hand in each of Syracuse’s first four goals.

Christina Tan, Simone Kalhorn, and Jacquelynn Tang leave the Orange as some of the most decorated tennis players in school history.

The three seniors of the Syracuse women’s tennis team may be graduating and moving on to new things, but they will leave behind a legacy of all that they have learned and all that they have taught to the underclassmen.

Simone Kalhorn, Christina Tan, and Jacquelynn Tang have been with the team for four years. They are strong leaders, talented players, and great examples for the rest of the team to follow. Two are captains on this year’s squad.
