With the game less than 24 hours away, the Orange are ready to show off the game plan they've been working on for the last three weeks.
HOUSTON - One day before his team takes on Minnesota in the Texas Bowl, Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer said the game is a great opportunity and achievement for the program.
“At the beginning of the season we had a lot of work to do,” Shafer said. “Just to be playing a game after Christmas is great. It makes me proud.”
And the players, including senior defensive tackle Jay Bromley are ready to get on the field after three weeks of preparation.
“We’re ready to get out there and show what we do,” he said.
Syracuse running back Jerome Smith will forgo his final year of eligibility to pursue a career in the NFL.
Jerome Smith will not return for his final season next year, opting instead to enter the NFL. Earlier today, Smith hinted that this could be the end of his collegiate career, tweeting: "It's been a pleasure Syracuse."

Two SU football players were arrested Saturday, including its starting linebacker.
Defensive standout Marcus Spruill and Steve Rene were arrested last night. Spruill was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment while Rene was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Rene and Spruill were arrested after police arrived on Euclid to find Rene in middle of the street yelling at people, Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department told the Post-Standard.
