Social media filled with responses to Marc Jacobs' use of dreadlocks in his New York Fashion Week runway show.

This past week, Marc Jacobs closed spring 2017 New York Fashion Week. The designs were beautiful, the staging was gorgeous and the hair was...pretty controversial.

When the cast of supermodels (including Kendall Jenner, the Hadid sisters, Karlie Kloss, Adrianna Lima and more) stepped out with heads full of pastel-colored dreadlocks, the debate began as whether or not this was cultural appropriation.

So let's break it down: Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of elements of one culture by members of another culture.

Embracing the warm weather, students merged fall and summer trends in their back-to-school outfits.

Everyone remembers the excitement of back-to-school shopping and prepping for the first day: laying out a new outfit the night before and waking up early to get ready.

In college, some of that first day excitement still occurs, especially when it comes to figuring out what to wear.

Model Stacy Fernandez shares her journey of getting ready for the Rip the Runway fashion show on Friday.

“This is nothing like last year. It’s not hectic, there’s no yelling, it’s weirdly calm,” said one of the girls doing hair and makeup.

“Calm?” I think. Nothing about this is calm, at least not for me.

Backstage isn’t what I expected. It’s not actually behind the stage, rather there is a set of stairs that leads to a room directly underneath the stage. This is where the real show is.

Anxious to escape monochrome winter fashion? Neons and bold black and white stripes are around the corner.

If you're like me, you are extremely impatient for warmer weather and sunny skies to start appearing. Along with better weather, I can't wait to ditch my unflattering black parka in exchange for jackets, sandals and t-shirts. It seems as thought the fashion world has heard my pleas for happier clothes, and it has responded by tossing in every bright, intense color imaginable in a storm of pinks, greens, reds and blues, and it's also throwing in some bold black and white stripes to the mix. Welcome to Spring 2013 ladies (and gentlemen, I suppose).

Creatures of the Wind and Richard Chai Love lead the pack for the fall 2013 collections.

The Fall 2013 season kicked off yesterday in NYC with BCBG Max Azria, Creatures of the Wind, Richard Chai Love, and Rachel Comey as some of the standouts from the first day.

Creatures of the Wind were lauded for their sparkly Tabitha Simmons/Swarovski collaboration shoes, with popular fashion news site Fashionista proclaiming the clothes the most "cohesive, mature and wearable" that the team has made to date. Richard Chai took a different route than he normally does and went with a more buttoned-up, military-style collection.
