Remembrance Scholars released 35 dove-shaped balloons in honor of each SU student who died on Pan Am 103.

Remembrance Scholars gathered with the Syracuse community Monday evening to honor the 35 Syracuse University students who died in the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Silhouettes of SU students who died on the flight will be put up throughout campus during the week.

Most undergraduates at Syracuse University were not born when the Pan Am 103 bombing occurred, killing 35 SU students studying abroad. In honor of their memory, SU hosts the annual Remembrance Week, this year starting Sunday, Oct. 19, urging students to look back and act forward.

Laura Gray-Rosendale came to campus for the Writing Program's Nonfiction Reading Series on Thursday.

Laura Gray-Rosendale said she always knew she would write about her rape as a Syracuse University student in 1988.

'It took a long time to be able to figure out how to be able to do that and what it would look like," she said. "This is the result."

The actress will discuss how topics such as race, class and gender affect the lives of trans individuals.

The LGBT Resource Center is bringing a special guest from your laptop screen to Schine Student Center next week.

The center will host “Orange Is the New Black” star Laverne Cox on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium. The event, titled “Ain’t I A Woman?,” will conclude the center’s events for Coming Out Month in October.

Members of the Syracuse University community participated in the second of three town hall meetings Tuesday in Maxwell Auditorium. The discussion focused on the strategic plan, the first element of Chancellor Kent Syverud’s Fast Forward Syracuse initiative.

Actor Rick Gonzalez spoke about the influence his upbringing has had on his acting career.

Smoothly making his way to the stage in a very laid-back T-shirt, jeans and navy blue and orange sneakers -- coincidentally showing school spirit -- the Latino TV star quickly opened up to the crowd.

“Acting has been able to shed light on some things that as a man I needed to grow up in,” Rick Gonzalez said.
