Actor and producer Gina Belafonte spoke to students, faculty and community members about the issues of racial diversity in entertainment media at the Newhouse School on Wednesday.

Actress and producer Gina Belafonte entertained a crowd at the Newhouse School Wednesday night in a discussion about her career, race in the entertainment industry and her father’s legacy.

Belafonte, the daughter of singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte, also talked about "Sing Your Song," a documentary about her father that she co-produced. It was selected for the Sundance Film Festival in 2011.

Any two people with a link to SU can connect over a thousand things. They've shivered through zero-degree days, spun orange bandanas over their heads in the Dome and wondered how it's possible for there to be snow flurries at an event called Mayfest.

They can also build a professional connection.

The SNL star will visit Goldstein Auditorium for "An Evening of Comedy" on Wednesday March 27.

Comedian Seth Meyers will perform in Schine Student Center's Goldstein Auditorium March 27, campus programming board University Union announced Sunday via Twitter.

Meyers is currently the head writer at Saturday Night Live, and the host of SNL's parody news show Weekend Update. He joined the cast in 2001, and has been a host of Weekend Update for six seasons.

A brawl during a dance party at the Schine Student Center early Sunday morning resulted in a variety of charges, including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Nine individuals, at least eight of them Syracuse University students, were arrested in connection with a fight that broke out just before 2 a.m. Sunday at a dance party in the Schine Student Center.

Curtis becomes the first female SA president since the 52nd session.

Allie CurtisWith almost 30 percent of the vote, Allie Curtis was declared the Syracuse University Student Association president of the 57th session.

“I am so honored to have been elected to serve as SA president. This has been a dream of mine since I came to Syracuse and recognized my love of this university and my power to incite change,” said Curtis in a press release.

Nov. 9 - 11 was Orange Central at Syracuse University.

Several events took place on campus, including the homecoming parade, pep rally and football game.

Syracuse University students will choose the next Student Association president and comptroller this week. Four candidates—Allie Curtis, PJ Alampi, Kyle Coleman and Iggy Nava—are running for president.

Almost a year after sexual abuse allegations arose about the former men's basketball assistant, Prosecutors announce that there isn't sufficient evidence to continue the investigation.

Former SU basketball assistant coach Bernie Fine will not be charged after accusations of child-molestation were raised last year, federal prosecuters said on Nov. 9.

Classes scheduled after 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and for the entire day Oct. 30 are cancelled.

In a weather alert email sent out to all students and faculty earlier this morning, SU has cancelled all classes scheduled after 1:30 p.m. today and for the entire day tomorrow. Classes are expected to resume on a normal schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

A documentary about the 1988 bombing that killed 35 SU students premiered Wednesday night as part of the annual Remembrance Week.

In the dark, the only light from a screen fell on pensive faces and teary eyes. Students gathered Wednesday at the Kittredge Auditorium in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall to memorialize a tragedy that happened 24 years ago.
