The Syracuse University women's soccer team's season came to an end Sunday with a 3-1 loss to the Georgetown Hoyas.

The Syracuse University women’s soccer team (7-8-3, 6-5-0 Big East) lost to the Georgetown University Hoyas (15-5-0, 8-3-0 Big East) 3-1 in the Big East tournament quarterfinals Sunday at Washington, D.C. The loss marked the end of SU's season.

Syracuse lacrosse player Kevin Drew receives multiple charges Monday after crash in coach's car

Kevin Drew of the Syracuse University men's lacrosse team was charged early Monday morning with driving while intoxicated, performing a hit-and-run, resisting arrest, passing a stop sign, and speeding. A police officer witnessed a 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer hit a parked car on Broad Street in the Westcott area. When the driver failed to stop, the officer chased the car at speeds of 50 mph, well over the posted 30 mph speed limit.

News and notes from Syracuse's upset win against West Virginia, 49-23.

 My recap of Syracuse's shocking victory at home against then-No. 11 West Virginia, 49-23. “We had a good victory tonight. It really means a lot," head coach Doug Marrone said after the win.


The announced attendance for the game was 45,265. That’s the largest crowd at an SU home football game since the first game of Marrone’s tenure.

The Syracuse women's soccer team falls to St. John's in the regular season finale, 2-0. The team now sets its eyes on Georgetown in the Big East Tournament.

The Syracuse University women’s soccer team (7-7-3, 6-5-0 Big East) dropped its second straight game Friday after losing to the St. John’s University Red Storm (9-8-1, 5-6-0 Big East) 2-0 at Belson Stadium in Jamaica, N.Y.

The National Football League Symposium: First and the Next Ten ended with panelists Mike Tirico, Newhouse class of ’88 and current ESPN announcer; Rich Cimini, ’85 and writer with ESPNNewYork.com; John Wildhack, ’80, executive vice president of program acquisitions and strategy with ESPN and Troy Vincent, vice president of player engagement with the NFL, discussing a range of topics from fantasy football and social media influences to player safety.

Syracuse University presented the National Football League Symposium: First and the Next Ten Tuesday on the state of professional football and the future of the NFL.

 

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications hosted the National Football League Symposium: First and the Next Ten in the Hergenhan Auditorium Tuesday afternoon. 

Despite a slight delay, the NFL Symposium kicked off with a few jokes.

“I feel like we should play the ‘Are you ready for some football’ song, but I guess we can’t listen to that anymore,” said Dean Lorraine Branham.

During the first hour of the symposium, Branham introduced Syracuse alumnus and ESPN play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico, who served as emcee for the event.

The Syracuse University women's soccer team could not follow up on its stunning double overtime victory from two days earlier, losing 4-0 to Marquette.

The Syracuse University women’s soccer team (7-6-3, 6-4 Big East) lost 4-0 to No. 7 Marquette (16-2, 9-1 Big East) Sunday at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Sunday’s loss marked the fourth time the Orange has been shutout and the fifth time it has given up multiple goals in a game this season. Despite the loss the Orange still clinched a bye to the quaterfinals of the Big East Tournament by ensuring a third place finish in the American Division, the team's highest finish since the conference realigned in 2006.

Two Louis Clark goals in the first half were not enough to upset No. 11 USF as the Orange fall in overtime, 3-2.

After leading University of South Florida 2-0 at halftime, the Syracuse University men’s soccer gave up two late goals and eventually lost in overtime to the Bulls, 3-2, Saturday night at the SU Soccer Stadium. USF junior Dom Dwyer scored the game-winner four minutes into extra time.

“Unfortunately right at the end we made a mistake,” SU coach Ian McIntrye said.
