The Orange used a second half surge to beat Towson, 12-7, and stay undefeated on the season.

Coming off two ACC road victories against No. 9 Virginia and No. 10 Boston College last week, No. 2 Syracuse returned to the Carrier Dome Sunday afternoon to face No. 15 Towson.

Recently named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, Kayla Treanor recorded her 23rd goal of the season today leading the Orange (6-0) with five goals in a 12-7 victory. The sophomore attacker scored four of her goals in the second half in a team effort to pull away.

Basketball Insiders' Alex Kennedy says multiple scouts believe Ennis could stay in Syracuse.

Although Syracuse's season isn't over yet, NBA scouts are already looking at the top Orange players ready to make the leap to the big leagues. Freshman point guard Tyler Ennis is among those players, and NBA draft experts predict he could fall anywhere from an early to late lottery pick.

That is, if he declares for the draft at all.

The Orange fell to No. 5 Duke in a controversial ending.

Syracuse was on top of the college basketball world after a 25-0 start to the season and No. 1 ranking. Now the Orange (25-2, 12-2 ACC) are amid a two-game losing streak and facing a drop in the polls after a 66-60 loss at Duke (22-6, 11-4 ACC) Saturday.

A rematch of one of the best games of the year lacked the offensive firepower of the first contest at the Carrier Dome. The Orange shot just 38.7 percent, hitting 24-of-62 field goals. The Blue Devils hit 47.9 percent of their shots, but were relatively quiet from three-point range, hitting 7-of-21 shots from beyond the arc.

The Seminoles' Natasha Howard scored a school-record 40 points as the Orange lost its second straight game Thursday night.

Even after Syracuse (17-6, 6-6 ACC) lost by 37 points to Notre Dame on Feb. 9, the Orange looked to be in prime position for a run at a tournament birth with soft schedule ahead. But after another blowout loss, this time at home against Florida State, it’ll be hard not to rethink that idea now.

Brittney Sykes scored a career-high 31 points in SU's 73-48 victory over Virginia Tech.

The game had been a formality for the last 20 minutes, but there Brittney Sykes was — still on the court, directing traffic and barking out commands even as the ball swung to the other side of the floor. As the shot clock wound down and Syracuse was close to wasting a meaningless possession, she started to get impatient. She darted to the top of the key, asked for a screen, blew by a defender and hung in the lane for a layup — again.

The Orange received all 65 first-place votes after defeating Duke Saturday and after Arizona lost to California.

After Cal's Justin Cobb's nailed a game-winner jumper with a second left on the clock against then-No. 1 Arizona Saturday, the nation had already crowned it's new No. 1 team: Syracuse. Hours removed from a dramatic overtime victory over Duke, the Orange (21-0, 8-0 ACC) became one of only two undefeated teams in the nation, joining Wichita Sate (23-0).

There were signs that bashed Justin Bieber and Duke (simultaneously), as well as great puns created from the letters E-S-P-N. But which one was the best?

One great part of ESPN College GameDay is the signs fans make to display behind Rece Davis, Jalen Rose, Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas. They can be anything created from timely new stories to play on words to just plan weird.

Here are The NewsHouse's top ten signs seen at ESPN College GameDay, excluding big heads:

Rece Davis, Jalen Rose, Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas pumped up a crowded SU student section eight and a half hours before the Orange take on Duke at 6:30 p.m.

If the Syracuse-Duke game Saturday night is the main course, than ESPN College GameDay was the appetizer. Hundreds fans packed the stands behind the GameDay desk, cheering and screaming with signs and banners, creating one of the loudest and entertaining atmospheres on ESPN's weekly college basketball morning show.

"I don't know how many people there were," Jay Bilas said after the show, "but there were a lot."

Between Otto and Dome campers sledding down Crouse College and panels at the S.I. Newhouse School, ESPN's College GameDay left its mark on campus the day before the big game.

Although tip-off wasn't for another 30 hours, the hype leading up to the first ever ACC match-up between Syracuse and Duke made its way throughout campus when ESPN's College GameDay came to town.

Nike released seven new Hyper Elite Dominance uniforms Thursday, including a throwback Syracuse uniform.

Syracuse may have joined the ACC this year, but they'll be wearing uniforms from the early Big East years.

Nike released seven new uniforms as part of the company's Hyper Elite Dominance series in a press release Thursday. Syracuse joins Michigan State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Duke, Oregon and North Carolina as the only teams to don these uniforms this season.
