Two SU football players arrested

On the eve of finding out which bowl game they will be playing in, Marcus Spruill and Steve Rene were arrested on Euclid Ave. on Saturday night.

Two SU football players were arrested Saturday, including its starting linebacker.

Defensive standout Marcus Spruill and Steve Rene were arrested last night. Spruill was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment while Rene was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Rene and Spruill were arrested after police arrived on Euclid to find Rene in middle of the street yelling at people, Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department told the Post-Standard.

According to the Post-Standard, after being told multiple times to get out of the street, and officer tried to secure Rene, and at that time Spruill approached the officer and tried to pull the officer away from Rene.

Both Spruill and Rene appeared to be intoxicated, Connellan said.
