One of the best things about October is Halloween. I went to Frightmare Farms in Fulton, N.Y. with a group of friends. It’s a little bit of a drive, about 30 minutes or so outside of Syracuse, and costs $12 ($11 if you bring a student ID). The steeper price tag was worth it! Get there early because there will be a long wait. We waited for over an hour to get in, but that's because they wait a decent amount of time between each group so that you are not going through the house with a whole bunch of people.
The haunted house itself is really well done. The details of the house and decorations were amazing and the actors’ costumes and makeup were awesome. They also really got into their characters and tried their hardest to scare us, and they succeeded at it...a lot. I started out second in our group of five and by about halfway through I had been pushed back to fourth, with one of my friends holding on to the back of my sweatshirt the rest of the way. There were lots of screams and jumps through out the trek, especially when we least expected it. The trip through the house itself was a lot longer than we thought it would be, long enough that by about halfway through my face hurt from smiling so much.
My friends had hit up the Fright Nights at the Fair the previous weekend and they said this haunted house was longer and scarier than any of the five they have there. So grab a group of friends and partake in the Halloween tradition of letting strangers in weird costumes scare you!
Scare Scale: 3.5 – 4 out of 5
