"Battle on the Midway" moved to Sunday afternoon

Due to impending rain and wind, officials from both schools decided to move the game between SU and San Diego State to Sunday.

The "Battle on the Midway" game between Syracuse and San Diego State has been moved from Friday night to Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. est. due to impending inclement weather. The game was scheduled to be played on the USS Midway.

"We remain committed to this once-in-a-lifetime experience for our student athletes and our fan," Syracuse Athletic Director Daryl Gross said. "We are very sorry for the inconvenience this change may have caused out fans. The weather predictions have forced the postponement."

The game features two perennial contenders in No. 9 Syracuse and No. 20 San Diego State. It is one of multiple games being played this weekend on aircraft carriers and army bases.

Also, the game pits two of college basketball's great coaches against each other in Jim Boeheim and Steve Fisher. Fisher may be best known for coaching Michigan during the early 90s when they had the "Fab Five." Boeheim only trails Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski in wins with 890.

Both have led teams to National Championships.
