About Me: 

Rebecca Schmid has been engaged to freelance for The Scarsdale Inquirer, Chamber Music America and American Record Guide. She worked as contributing writer for Syracuse’s daily newspaper, The Post Standard, and writes reviews for the international online magazine Music and Vision. She is a board member of Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music and has blogged for Syracuse Opera.


A graduate of Brown University in music and comparative literature, Rebecca undertook a research project on the recording industry for Universal Music Classical Management and Productions last year. Under a Fulbright grant in Vienna, she studied the autobiography of Ignaz von Seyfried, a contemporary and rival of W.A. Mozart.


Rebecca’s performance activities have included singing in professional choirs and as a soloist in Austria and Switzerland. She taught piano, voice, French, and English and undertook translations in and out of French, German, Italian and English for musicologists and other organizations before starting a career in journalism.
