Lauren Coleman joined The NewsHouse in 2015. She is currently a Broadcast and Digital Journalism graduate student at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Before attending Syracuse University, Lauren was a 2014 graduate from the University of Virginia where she earned a B.A. in English and a B.A. in African American Studies.
After graduation, Lauren would like to be a general assignment news reporter for a television news station. She has many interests that include education, health, and social justice. Lauren strongly believes that journalism gives her the ability to educate and spread awareness.
Currently, Lauren is a Broadcast and Digital Journalism Instructional Associate. As an Instructional Associate, Lauren teaches undergraduate students how to edit video and audio. She also engineers radio and television broadcast for undergraduate broadcast classes as well as assist professors in daily lesson plans. Lauren also works as a multimedia journalist for NCC News. As reporter for NCC News, Lauren has created weekly news packages and radio news wraps for NCC News Online.
While a student at the University of Virginia, Lauren had many internships in the field of broadcast journalism. In the summer of 2013, Lauren worked as a Media Outreach Intern for the Gannett owned station WUSA*9 News in Washington, D.C. During her last year at the University of Virginia, Lauren worked as a news-reporting intern at WVIR-TV NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lauren also was a reporter for the student-run radio station WUVA 92.7 Kiss FM for three consecutive years where she became the On-Air News Department Director during her fourth year. She is currently a news-reporting intern at WSYR NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse, New York.
Lauren is currently president of the Newhouse Master's Association.
