Carly is an aspiring sports storyteller studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University with a double minor in Information Technology in the iSchool and Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has a strong passion for sports that was engrained in me by my father, with the help of Derek Jeter and Patrick Ewing. People describe Carly as a very outgoing person with strong determination and a big heart.
Currently, Carly is the Syracuse Volleyball beat reporter for Citrus TV Sports where she attends every volleyball home game and interviews players and coaches to produce packages for air such as this.
This summer Carly worked as a student associate in communications at Madison Sqaure Garden for the WNBA's New York Liberty where she live tweeted and instagrammed the basketball game, created web and social media content and interviewed players and coaches. Also, Carly worked as an intern on Sports on 1 at New York City's Time Warner Cable affiliate, NY1, where she helped put together the show and attended Yankee and Mets games and conducted interviews with players.
In the summer of 2014, Carly was a reporter for the Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park. She watched riveting street ball match ups, interviewed professional and street ball basketball players and wrote stories in quick turn around time. Carly worked in the heart of basketball, New York City and was surrounded with a love and knowledge for the game.
During her time in Syracuse, Carly has been a member of the WAER Sports Talk Radio Staff where she has produced live post game shows, interviews coaches and players on the Syracuse Orange basketball, football and lacrosse teams as well as put together wraps for air. This experience has really deepened her passion for story telling and the sports world.
Aside from sports, Carly is really passionate about helping the community. She was Philanthropy Chair of the Iota Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi. By getting to plan and participate in charity events on the Syracuse campus, she developed strong communication and interpersonal skills. This position instilled in her an urge to do good in my community and one day reach the world.
