SU App Challenge: for students, by students

The iSchool's Second Annual SU App Challenge on Dec. 5 featured three new applications created by university students to make life easier on campus.

Twenty-five teams competed for best app title and other prizes at the iSchool's Second Annual SU App Challenge on Dec. 5. Teams were judged on the apps innovation, integrity and impact.

 

Compas

An event management webapp, this app makes it simple for students to find events and activities on his or her college campus. This app alleviated socal media, and curates events for users on one platform. The team behind the Compas, who built its app from scratch over the course of the semester, took home the grand prize of $1,000. Compas' creators hope to have the app go live soon.

 

ConnectNow

This app allows its users to connect by aggregating his or her digital media into one profile on your a Smartphone. When a user meets someone new, email addresses, phone numbers and social media accounts can be exchanged. ConnectNow is currently available in the iTunes store.

 

DJ Sync

This team created an app that lets users help DJ parties he or she attends. DJ Sync allows guests to select songs from a playlist and vote for them to be played. Whichever songs get the most votes automatically gets played. This team won the $500 prize in the web category.
