Live: Author and humorist David Sedaris at Syracuse University

David Sedaris

With a knack for satire and witty commentary, David Sedaris has become one of America’s best humor writers. Sedaris has written several books, such as Barrel Fever (1995) and Holidays on Ice (2010), as well as personal essays, Naked (1998), Me Talk Pretty One Day (2001), Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim (2005), and When You Are Engulfed in Flames (2009). There are seven million copies of his books in print, they have been translated into 25 languages, and both his books and essays have become best sellers. Sedaris often contributes work to The New Yorker and has produced radio commentary on This American Life for Public Radio International. His most recent book, a collection of fables titled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary (with illustrations by Ian Falconer), immediately made The New York Times Bestseller Fiction List. In collaboration with his sister, Amy Sedaris, the two have written several plays under the name “The Talent Family.” Sedaris has been nominated for three Grammy-Awards for best spoken word and best comedy album. His newest album, produced in 2009, is called David Sedaris: Live For Your Listening Pleasure.
