DJ's on the Hill

Your rating: None Average: 4 (9 votes)

If you’re looking for a laid-back place to watch the big game while enjoying New York style wings and pizza with your favorite draft, then head to DJ’s on the Hill during one of Syracuse University’s basketball games.

When to Go: Take your pick of the night. Open till 2 a.m. every night, DJ’s always has a drink special, and the kitchen is open till close. DJ’s will soon feature a lunch special with deals such as two slices of pizza and a soda for $4.50. The bottom line: Anytime you’re up for a good drink deal or a quick lunch.

On Tap: With over 26 beers on tap, chances are DJ’s has one of your favorite beers. All the traditionals, including Miller Lite, Bud Light, Dundee, Stella, Shocktop and more are available fresh from DJ’s taps, which are decorated with sports balls. The bottom line: If you want it, DJ’s probably has it on tap or at least your second favorite.

Blue Plate Special: The Yueng and Wings special allows guests to enjoy an order of DJ’s N.Y. style wings with a pitcher of Yuengling for just $10. DJ’s also offers different drink specials every night of the week. On Wednesdays, DJ's offers two-for-one shots, $5 Jaeger bombs, $2 domestic bottles and 16-ounce Pabst Blue Ribbon cans for $1.50.  The bottom line: Nothing washes down an order of N.Y. style wings like a pitcher of Yuengling.

The Scene: Your average laid-back sports bar with TVs at all angles to watch the big game and a pool table if you’re up for your own game. The walls are decorated with a variety of sports memorabilia, but the real decoration is the tables. Each table is shaped like a particular sports ball including soccer balls, footballs, baseballs and basketballs. The bottom line: If you’re a sports enthusiast, this is the place for you.

The Crew: The kitchen staff members (who poke their heads out of the ordering window saying hi) and the bartender/manager are as welcoming as they come. DJ’s staff make you feel right at home whether you’re sitting having a beer or stopping in for carryout. The bottom line: They’re so friendly they could work at Cheers.

The Crowd: DJ's has a mix of school-spirited students and welcoming locals, but every sports enthusiast entering DJ’s has one thing in common: DJ's strictly enforces a 21 and older age policy. The bottom line: If you’re over 21, then you’re good to go.

The Deets: DJ’s is a friendly place close-to-campus to stop in for a slice of pizza and wings for lunch or to spend a few hours watching your sports without breaking the bank. The menu also features other traditional bar favorites such as chicken tenders, subs, Italian favorites like calzones and spaghetti and more. DJ’s is open every day noon till 2 a.m., and that includes the kitchen. The bottom line: Great drink deals, great location and one of few bars with a kitchen open till last call.
