Imagine you could share a meal with Michael Corleone while being serenaded by Frank Sinatra. Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse makes that fantasy come true. The Erie Boulevard restaurant offers reasonably priced Italian fare in a relaxed environment. Caricatures of famous Italians like Corleone are plastered on the dimly lit walls, and your meal is accompanied by the sounds of Sinatra. But, this establishment doesn’t let any gimmicks get in the way of serving great food.

When to Go: During the week, Delmonico's is open only for dinner, and the large parking lot begins to fill when the restaurant opens at 4 p.m. There may be a wait during peak dinner times, but nothing too lengthy. Dining hours end at 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11:30 p.m. on Friday. Delmonico's opens for lunch on the weekend. Hours on Saturday are from 1 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., and Sunday it is open from noon until 10 p.m. If you’re in the mood for some late-night drinks, the bar stays open past midnight. The bottom line: Go for dinner.

On Tap: Delmonico’s offers a wide variety of red and white wines from Italy and California, along with cocktails and classic martinis like the Godiva chocolate martini and the Old Blue Eyes, known as “Frank’s Favorite.” The bottom line: A great Italian meal is never complete without some vino.

Blue Plate Special: Delmonico’s touts itself as the “Home of the 24 oz. Choice Delmonico Steak.” Priced at $17.99, the 1.5-pound steak is a "choice center cut rib-eye from Midwestern Heavy Aged Beef, seasoned and seared to perfection" and served with penne marinara. For those who want to stick to pasta, there is an assortment of dishes available. There are also various antipasti, zuppa and insalata (appetizers, soup and salads), and bread is served to begin every meal.  And don’t forget desserts. The Corleone family caporegime never did. “Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.” In this case, it’s a homemade cannoli with chocolate chips. The bottom line: Go all out and get the steak, but leave room for dessert.

The Scene: In addition to the colorful caricatures adorning the walls and Sinatra’s crooning, Delmonico’s has an elegant décor while maintaining a family-friendly and fun atmosphere. There is also a Sinatra-themed room. The bottom line: All Italian, all the time.

The Crew: The employees dress to match the décor, and are attentive to the customers. The bottom line: They are there to address your needs.

The Crowd: At 4 p.m. when the doors open, the older crowd comes to enjoy an Italian meal. It's a nice date spot later in the evening, but families fit right in, too. The bottom line: It's a little bit nicer than your campus hangout, but everyone is welcome.

The Deets: All credit cards accepted. Parking should not be a problem. From the special grilled steaks, chicken and pork chops to the traditional pasta dinners, Delmonico's offers many options at reasonable prices. Also, Delmonico’s offers a special gluten-free menu. Appetizers, salads and soup range from $5 to $10, pasta and chicken dishes average $15 and steaks range from $15 to $27. Most menu items come in large portions, often enough for two or for leftovers. The bottom line: There's something for everyone.
