The Syracuse University Ski Racing Club [9] (SUSRC) hosted the SU Invitational this past weekend at the Toggenburg Mountain Winter Sports Center [10] in Fabius, N.Y.
It was the final regular season event for the Mideast Conference Empire Division as part of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association [11]. On Saturday, skiers participated in slalom, while the giant slalom was held Sunday.
The SU men’s team placed first, while the women’s team came in second place at the seven-team event. Other schools participating included Cornell University [12], Rochester Institute of Technology [13], University of Rochester [14], and two State University of New York institutions, SUNY Geneseo [15] and SUNY Buffalo [16].
Next up for SUSRC is a trip to Bristol, N.Y., where the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships will be held on Feb. 24-25.
“I was very happy with how our team performed this weekend,” said SUSRC president C.J. Pierro [17] in an email. “We had a lot of solid skiing from both our men’s and women’s teams, and I’m happy we are able to go into the regional championships with some momentum.”
