In each Not From Concentrate post, we're taking a moment to remember the week that was -- from the news you should know, to the things everyone was talking about and even some of the stuff that might have slipped right by.
It's one last chance for stories before they fade into oblivion as the week begins again.
FROM THE HILL
- Syracuse Football's Backup Quarterback was charged with petty larceny after police say he tried to steal a bottle of cologne from Hollister [8].
- Gray is the new Orange as the men's basketball team gets new Nike custom-designed uniforms [9] to wear for one game only.
- You may have seen the video gone viral [10] of the Syracuse student doing a daily backflip for a year as part of a bet with his dad. What you probably didn't see is the article from way back in February of 2011 [11] when he was just a month and a half in.
STILL IN 'CUSE
- Per usual, we're all talking about the snow. Right now though, it's all about the lack thereof. This time last year, Syracuse had experienced almost seven feet more of snow than it has seen this season [12].
- In a scene similar to those playing out across the country, Occupy Syracuse's occupation came to end after police cleared the park in an early morning raid, reported by the Syracuse Post-Standard [13].
- One week. Three big names. Rick Ross, Ludacris and David Guetta will be performing just 24-hours apart [14] in Syracuse this week.
IN THE ZEITGEIST
- It's the Canadian version of the Space Race. Two teens in our northern neighbor sent a Lego strapped to a balloon some 80,000 feet above Earth [15].
- The State of the Union happened. We live tweeted it [16] -- micro-blogging hard-hitting commentary on House Speaker John Boehner's version of GTL [17].
- The 2012 Academy Awards were announced [18]. The movie that everyone is talking about is the one that doesn't: The Artist.
