Efforts to revive a symphony in Syracuse after Syracuse Symphony Orchestra went bankrupt have so far been unsuccessful.

The future of a symphony orchestra in Syracuse is hanging by a taxpayer string.

Groups are now seeking government funding to create a new symphony orchestra after an earlier orchestra went bankrupt and a philharmonic orchestra failed. Meanwhile, some musical supporters are keeping a temporary symphony going.

Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music gathers outstanding musicians from the Central New York area for an evening of trios from throughout the centuries.

Three is a sacred number in traditions from Greek myth, to Buddhism, to Christianity. In Classical music, even as ideas have fermented and bubbled over into increasingly large-scale undertakings, the genre of the trio has provided composers with fresh inspiration.

The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra was joined by guest artist Jon Kimura Parker for an evening that rejoiced in the spirit of Romanticism.

Beethoven fought a long battle with poor mental health which was further undermined by the French invasion of Vienna at the beginning of the nineteenth century.

Rachmaninoff suffered from a serious bout of depression after the failure of his first symphony in 1897. It wasn’t until several years later that he moved to Dresden, Germany in order make a second attempt, the result which was an hour long.
