The pair led Syracuse's stout defense during its run to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA tournament.

Two of the key contributors during Syracuse’s stellar 2014 season will be calling Major League Soccer their new home.

Goalkeeper Alex Bono and senior defender Skylar Thomas were selected with the No. 6 and No. 11 overall picks, respectively, by Toronto FC in the league’s SuperDraft on Jan. 15.

Fouls and offensive inefficiency plague the Orange in its second defeat.

In a game that needed overtime to yield a victor, Syracuse fell 2-1 to Atlantic Coast Conference rival Louisville Friday night, snapping an eight-game win streak.

The Orange (12-2-0, 4-2-0 ACC) boasts one of the premier back lines in the nation, having allowed only three goals coming into the contest. Friday, however, marked the first the time team yielded more than two goals this year.

The senior's header-deflection goal sparked SU to a monumental ACC victory.

In front of one of the largest crowds of the season, No. 18 Syracuse (8-1-0, 2-1-0) defeated Atlantic Coast Conference opponent and second-ranked Virginia (4-3-1, 1-1-1) in a hard-fought 1-0 contest.

The win was SU’s first against a top-five team since 2001, when it defeated then-No. 8 Rutgers.

The decisive goal game in the 31st minute when senior defender Skylar Thomas took flight and headed a perfect corner pass from Julian Buescher into the upper left corner of the net.

Despite 10 corner opportunities in the latter frame, SU fails to overcome late Irish goal.

In front of a record crowd of 2,442 at SU Soccer Stadium on Friday, No. 20 Syracuse looked to avenge last year’s 3-0 shutout at the hands of defending national champion Notre Dame.

The Orange are 2-2-1 over the last five games and have failed to produce much on offense. But if SU wins Friday, it will go into the ACC tournament an 11-6-1 record.

When Syracuse defeated the Clemson Tigers for its biggest victory to date, there wasn’t too much time to celebrate. The Orange (10-6-1) needed to immediately prepare for at least one final road trip against Wake Forest.

A win is necessary to keep its chances of reaching the ACC Tournament. The top eight teams in the regular season will advance to the conference tournament. The Demon Deacons (8-4-5), meanwhile, have already clinched a spot in the postseason and currently hold the third seed in the conference.

Stout defense and a hat trick from Emil Ekblom sealed the blow out victory over NC State.

The Syracuse men’s soccer team concluded its four-game home stand in style with a 5-0 win over ACC rival North Carolina State Oct. 4. Emil Ekblom was the star of the show, as the freshman striker grabbed his first career hat trick for the Orange.

Syracuse lost 3-0 thanks to a pair of set-piece goals by Notre Dame.

On a cold and wet Friday night, No. 4 Notre Dame shut out a helpless Syracuse squad, 3-0.

The Orange came into the game against Notre Dame with possibly the best of preparations, after having routed Manhattan 4-1 earlier in the week. But Friday’s match was a humbling experience, as Syracuse was outplayed and outmuscled throughout the contest.
