Steve Aoki set to kick off Bandersnatch

The producer and celebrity DJ will bring his hip-grinding beats to Schine on October 11.

Whether you know it or not, you’ve already seen him: in the video game NBA 2K9, perhaps, or next to Lindsay Lohan at a DJ booth. He’s made the rounds with his sister, actress and model Devon Aoki, and guest-starred – as the DJ, naturally – in the video for Cobra Starship’s “Send My Love to the Dancefloor, I’ll See You in Hell.”

Condom Man to appear at Sexpo

Healthy Monday to host sexual health fair

Condom Man will make an appearance at Healthy Monday's Sexpo free sexual health fair on Monday. The event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m in the Schine Underground.

Organizers will give away massage certificates, goodie bags, T-shirts and free health information. Performances by Condom Man and others begin at 8:15 p.m. For details call 315-443-5775.

Parachute deployed to pick up dragging audience

Review: Pop act Parachute tries to engage a smaller crowd Wednesday night at the Schine Underground.

It took an impromptu onstage battle between the members of Parachute featuring some intense guitar riffs to finally get some laughs and whoops from the lukewarm student crowd at the national act's show Wednesday in the Schine Underground.

Taiwan for a day

The Schine Underground was transformed into a Taiwanese paradise.

The Schine Underground looked like a Taiwanese fairground Wednesday night. The Taiwan Connection hosted a "Taiwan night" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for SU students to experience Taiwan culture. Taiwanese games, prizes, food, and a flea market comprised the night's activities. Students could try their luck at games like marbles picking, throw the hoop, or poke it. Winners received candy and assorted knick-knacks. If gambling wasn't appealing, you could learn how to make origami or Sand Art.

Review: Fazeshift, Hot Chelle Rae and The Academy Is... pack the Schine Underground.

The doors opened at 7:30 p.m., and a line of SU and local high students filed in. The small room transformed into an impressive, yet intimate, concert venue.

Nationally known act, The Academy Is…, backed by local band Fazeshift and touring band Hot Chelle Rae, played to a packed Schine Underground on Tuesday night.

Mike Posner sets it off in the Underground

Review: Hip-hop artist and Duke senior stages an energy-packed party to celebrate his new album release.

Early Wednesday night, 21-year-old musician and Duke University student Mike Posner strolled leisurely into the Schine Underground. Scheduled to perform two hours later and still appearing tired from his flight, Posner sat down to relax after a routine sound check.

“Today’s a really special day because my new CD just came out,” Posner said. “It leaked a day early, so I’ll be singing several songs from that CD I’ve never sung before.”
