Schine Underground

Based off Stephen King’s 1974 novel about a teenage girl whose struggles to fit lead her to being a deadly force at prom, "Carrie" came to life on Dec. 2 and 3.

For advertising junior Max Murphy, Carrie: The Musical has been his favorite musical ever since he listened to it at 16 years old.

“The message of what does it cost to be kind is so incredible, so necessary to be spread on this campus, around this world,” Murphy said.

As director of What Theatre, a campus group open to all non-drama majors at Syracuse University, Murphy chose the show for the student-run organization’s fall musical.

Bandersnatch headliners talk influences, dream collaborations and returning to Upstate New York.

Tribe Society

The NewsHouse: You guys formed out of the band Gentlemen Hall. Is Tribe Society a reimagining of it, or are you focusing on more of a different style?

Brad: This is a big turning point for Gentlemen Hall. We used to have another singer, but he left, and then we moved to New York, and just kind of started over, started fresh. It’s a little different in sound because we’re always exploring and stuff, so it kind of became its own thing with the five of us instead of the six people in Gentlemen Hall.

Review: SU students showcased their talents while performing songs from the 80s and 90s during the fifth annual Legends Concert held in Schine Underground.

It was a true "throwback Thursday" in the Schine Underground for the fifth annual Legends Concert on February 19. Hosted by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Student African American Society, Black Legacy, and Redemption Acapella, this year’s theme was the "Greatest Hits of the '80s and '90s."

The panel tackled issues faced by children in single-parent homes and encouraged students to forge their own destiny.

Cameras flashed as six former Syracuse University basketball players sat at a table answering questions. But this was no post-game press conference, and basketball was rarely brought up during the two-hour conversation

The former SU basketball player will speak to students at 2:15 on Saturday.

Etan Thomas had a memorable basketball career. During his time at Syracuse, he was twice named Big East Defensive Player of the Year. In 2000, he was a first round pick in the NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.

This weekend, Thomas is returning to the SU campus. Though many eyes will be on him, they will not be watching him on the basketball court.

Review: The first Bandersnatch Concert show of the semester rocked an energetic Syracuse University crowd ready for Spring Break.

If you closed your eyes Wednesday in the Schine Underground, you definitely felt like Spring Break had come early — somewhere between Coachella and a desert oasis.

Unfortunately, the carefree, billow-in-the-breeze feelings didn’t start until an hour of tirelessly waiting for sound check for the Bandersnatch concert series show to be completed.

The sold-out concert began with electronic duo ASTR, pronounced like the beginning of asteroid. The couple is comprised of New York natives Zoe Silverman on vocals and Adam Pallin on electronic percussion.
