Surprising pollsters, the Republican candidate passed Sec. Hillary Clinton in electoral votes as he won important swing states like Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He ultimately earned 279 electoral votes, and Sec. Clinton won the popular vote by about one percent.

The former Congressman from Texas and presidential candidate discussed national issues to a sold-out audience at Hendricks Chapel.

Former U.S. Rep. and Republican candidate for president Ron Paul spoke at Hendricks Chapel Wednesday night about many issues, but heavily emphasized individual liberty.

“The answer isn’t in more government, the answer is for more liberty for individuals to take care of themselves,” Paul said.

Curtis becomes the first female SA president since the 52nd session.

Allie CurtisWith almost 30 percent of the vote, Allie Curtis was declared the Syracuse University Student Association president of the 57th session.

“I am so honored to have been elected to serve as SA president. This has been a dream of mine since I came to Syracuse and recognized my love of this university and my power to incite change,” said Curtis in a press release.
