Freshman forward Tyler Lydon paced Syracuse with a career-high 21 points.
Freshman forward Tyler Lydon had one of his best games of the season for Syracuse (18-10, 8-7 ACC) against the Pittsburgh Panthers (19-7, 8-6) on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, nobody else on the Orange stepped up as they dropped their second consecutive game by the count of 66-52.
“Football’s a game of inches,” head coach Scott Shafer said. “It’s one play here, one play there that can determine the outcome of a ball game and we saw that.”
The Syracuse football team (3-4, 1-2) gave the No. 25 Pittsburgh Panthers (6-1, 4-0) all they could handle, but fell just short with the end result being the same as their previous three contests. The Panthers kicked a last-second field goal to defeat the Orange 23-20.
Frank Howard led Syracuse with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals.
Syracuse men's basketball grabbed a much needed ACC win on Tuesday, pulling away from the Pittsburgh Panthers to win 59-45.
The Orange (13-5, 2-4 ACC) were riding a four-game losing streak, having lost four days ago in a double overtime game against Florida State. After making his opening three point shot, junior guard Frank Howard took control of the team.

In the Orange’s last game, Fair had just six points on 2-for-11 shooting. Tonight, though, he shot 8-for-13 to lead all scorers.
“It’s all about going to the next game,” Fair said. “You can’t dwell on a good or bad game.”
