Overcrowding, sweltering heat mar Wine and Chocolate Festival experience

Many attendees of the Central New York Wine and Chocolate Festival found the event overwhelming and unorganized.

For Colleen Feeney, Rachel Gullotta and Erin Marsden, all from Syracuse, the large amount of distilleries and wineries at the 10th annual AmeriCU Credit Union Wine and Chocolate Festival was overwhelming.

“It’s a little difficult to find which one to go to,” Gullotta said. 

The Exhibit Center of the New York State Fairgrounds was the site of the festival Saturday evening.

Gamers young and old flock to the third annual RetroGameCon

RetroGameCon, a convention celebrating legendary video games, charmed thousands at their largest venue yet, the New York State Fairgrounds.

Video gaming convention, RetroGameCon, ran for its third year at the New York State Fair Grounds Saturday, bringing in a swarm of video gamers, anime enthusiasts, comic fans, local businesses and community groups passionate about everything geeky.

Midway rides. Fried foods. Animal exhibits. Live music.

For nearly two weeks at the close of every summer, the New York State Fair serves up these in hopes of generating memories for hundreds of thousands of people.

With a wide array or entertainment, exhibits and foods, the opportunities seem endless for nearly 1 million visitors expected during the 12-day event.
