This year, Syracuse University graduate students from the Goldring Arts Journalism program traveled from Syracuse to Toronto to attend the 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival. Here is a roundup of some of the notable movies that one student saw:

Michael Uslan, the creator and producer behind the Batman movie franchise, will speak at Syracuse University later this month following a screening of The Lego Batman Movie.

It’s February once again, and that means that Cupid has creeped his head into all of our lives. And with each annual St. Valentine’s Day, Hollywood jams the local movie theaters with a bevy of films for young and impressionable couples to spend their money and time on. The right movie can make all the difference, whether it's the first date or the 10th date. So here is a helpful buyer’s guide to the recent releases available at the multiplex to insure that you see the right flick. And, more importantly, that you have a great Valentine’s Day.

1. Blackfish

Killer whales or serial killers? This documentary follows the history of whales in captivity with the story centering on Tilikum, a SeaWorld animal that killed three trainers and injured several others. SeaWorld shifted the blame to “trainer error” to maintain its shining Shamu image of the whales. You won’t be able to forget the sight of two 12,000-pound orcas crushing John Sillick in front of a terrified audience, a whale repeatedly dragging a trainer to the bottom of the pool as he gasps for air, or Tilikum snatching up senior trainer Dawn Brancheau.
