Vice President Joe Biden brought his fight to end violence against women to Goldstein Auditorium on Thursday.

Vice President Joe Biden addressed students in Goldstein Auditorium on Thursday as part of the It’s On Us Week of Action to end sexual assault on college campuses. He talked about his experiences on Capitol Hill fighting to end violence against women and said it was the responsibility of the community to stop it.

The congressman said forensic science is key to defending national security.

Rep. John Katko, chairman of the Homeland Security subcommittee on transportation security, delivered a keynote speech on the current trends of forensic science and national security at Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs on April 27. The congressman had a positive outlook when it comes to the future of forensic science.

Katko said his work experience in the Homeland Security subcommittee convinced him of the importance of forensic evidence in defending national security.

The 42nd President of the United States landed in Syracuse Friday to campaign for Maffei, who's up for re-election in New York's 24th congressional district.

Former President Bill Clinton stopped by Syracuse Friday evening to stump for Rep. Dan Maffei as the District 24 congressional race nears the Nov. 4 midterm elections.

In a speech to more than 750 people in a hangar at Syracuse Hancock International Airport, Clinton touted Maffei’s positions on issues like equal pay for women, college affordability and economic growth of the middle class.
