Red Storm hits 12 3-pointers, shoots 53.1 percent from the field in 93-60 victory over SU

The Syracuse Orange basketball team looked as if it had finally found a rhythm early in the second half against St. John’s on Wednesday night. 

SU (7-5) had been trailing the Red Storm since the 11-minute mark of the opening period and was struggling on both ends of the floor. But, the Orange cut its deficit to just 10 in the eight minutes following halftime and seemed poised for a run.

The Syracuse men’s basketball team lost 78-71 to the Georgetown Hoyas in the schools’ 92nd all-time meeting on Saturday. The loss was the first at home for SU (6-4) this season and the Orange have now lost four of its last six.

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was honest about the performance after the game, saying his team made too many mistakes and that his guards needed to create more plays.

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team built an 11-point lead in the second half but squandered it against its former Big East rival UConn, and the Huskies escaped with a two-point victory in front of 15,347 fans at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

UConn has struggled after losing three players for the season because of injuries but managed to get the job done this time.

After opening 2016-17 with two blowout wins over lesser competition, the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team faced its first major test against the Monmouth Hawks. Thanks to a dominant first half from Andrew White III, the Orange (3-0) passed easily.

Led by White, Lydon, SU knocks down 13 3-pointers in 90-49 victory at the Carrier Dome

Five different players scored at least 10 points for the Syracuse Orange as they cruised to a 90-46 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders on Tuesday at the Carrier Dome. The game was SU’s first in the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational.

The Orange (2-0) dominated in nearly every statistical category in its victory, from rebounds and assists, to points off turnovers and second chance points. Once the Orange took a 7-5 lead early in the first half, the game was never in doubt for Syracuse.

Graduate transfer scores 24 points, hits six 3-pointers as SU tops Dolphins, 97-64

Andrew White III had 24 points, Tyus Battle had 17 points, and John Gillon chipped in 14 as the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team relied on newcomers to topple LeMoyne College, 97-64, in its final exhibition game on Tuesday night at the Carrier Dome.

White hit a 3-pointer on Syracuse’s first possession of the game and he didn’t slow down. He finished six of 10 from long range and shot 67 percent from the field. White was also a factor on the defensive end, picking up two steals.
