Orange players and head coach Scott Shafer expecting improved offense and win total.

“Excitement” seemed to be the most popular word thrown around Syracuse University’s 2014 football media day at Manley Field House on Saturday afternoon.

In front of more than 25 media members, Orange head coach Scott Shafer talked about the excitement and expectations surrounding the program prior to his second year at the helm.

“I probably slept the best I’ve slept last night,” Shafer said. “I finally got to get in front of them as a group and talk to them about all that we’re looking to forward to…we’re fired up about the future.”

The NFL has selected The Syracuse University Marching Band, "The Pride," to perform at Super Bowl XLVIII in MetLife Stadium.

And the band played on!

The Syracuse University Marching Band, that is.

The NFL, with its long history of including college marching bands in the Super Bowl, has selected the 200-member SUMB to perform at Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Also selected was the Rutgers University Marching Scarlet Knights.

Both bands are expected to perform at 6 p.m., before the 6:30 p.m. kick-off.

The Red Kitchen Recipes is a new segment of Hill's Kitchen run by two (Southern) roommates—Jillian Thaw and Miriam Taylor—enjoying their first year up north. Their mission is simple: in an attempt to outwit the (oncoming) winter, they will be cooking away their fear of snow, armed with our generations-tested recipes of gumbo, pecan pie, jambalaya and, of course, grits.

Syracuse fans enjoyed the festivities at this year's annual Fan Fest, getting their first look at this season's football team.

On Friday afternoon, Syracuse fans young and old gathered at Schwartzwalder-Katz practice fields to see their football team play for the first time since last year.

Syracuse Fan Fest gave members of Orange Nation many options of entertainment. Kids could go jump in the bounce houses, parents could mingle and find friends, and families wandered around, eating free ice cream and making there way to a good seat.

But, no matter what their agenda, almost everyone stopped in their tracks when the clock struck 4 p.m.

A number of events took place this past weekend as part of Syracuse University's homecoming.

Nov. 9 - 11 was Orange Central at Syracuse University.

Several events took place on campus, including the homecoming parade, pep rally and football game.

Nassib led the balanced Orange offensive attack to a victory over No. 10 Louisville in the senior's final game at the Dome.

An offensive explosion propelled Syracuse (5-5, 3-3) past No. 11/10 Louisville (9-1, 4-1) on Senior Day in the Carrier Dome in front of 40,312 fans. Syracuse Univeristy scored on seven of 12 possessions in the 45-26 win.
