Graduating VPA fashion design majors go out with a bang

Commentary: This year's fashion students revealed their senior collections to a packed Goldstein Auditorium.

Syracuse University fashion design seniors completed their final test in the program on April 25, debuting their own 25-piece collections in the annual College of Visual and Performing Arts fashion show.

Tired, stressed and sleep deprived, dozens of students pulled themselves together for the moment they had been waiting for since freshman year.

The third annual Syracuse Style fashion show showcased Syracuse's growing fashion scene, and plans to keep getting bigger and better.

Syracuse is not New York City, but that doesn't mean its residents can't have a "fashion's night out." But these days, “fashion's night out” is less about “fashion” and more about the “night out,” and that was the case in Armory Square on Thursday, Sept. 20.

VPA's seniors show their inspiring collections at the spring fashion show

I had expected to see a huge amount of long gowns at Thursday night's VPA Fashion Show, maybe some pants, a pair of shorts. But I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of garments presented. There were a few knockout coats, fabulously textured dresses, and some patterned leggings (plain black tights, and there were a few, are complete throwaway piece for runway fashion).

Diversity hits the fashion runway at Newhouse

On Friday, dozens of models walked the runway in the Newhouse 1 lobby for the fifth annual Fashion Communications Milestone fashion show.

Nearly 100 students crowded into the lobby of Newhouse I on Friday night, eagerly anticipating the start of the fifth annual fashion communications show: “Fashion Follows Form: Fashion and Diversity.”

This year’s fashion show celebrated versatility in the fashion world. The hour-long show marked the fifth anniversary of the Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone, a joint program between the fashion department in the College of Visual and Performing Arts and Newhouse that allows students to take courses geared to fashion communications.
