Rockie Fresh and MTV star DJ Pauly D’s dance party distracted students from the snowfall outside Thursday night at Goldstein Auditorium in Schine Student Center.

The event, sponsored by student programming board University Union, began an hour and 15 minutes behind schedule, as Rockie Fresh faced inclement weather on his way to Syracuse.

The trio behind this up-and-coming Syracuse venue hope to promote and showcase lesser-represented genres in the local music scene.

To get inside The Elevated Underground, you must first climb up over 20 steps toward a bright blue door, then duck down once you’re in. “You wouldn’t know it now, but it used to be a horror scene down here,” Dusten Blake, 25, owner of The Elevated Underground, said.

Review: Friday night, the country superstars from Atlanta, Georgia pleased a packed house with a show full of nothing but good-old fashioned fun.

Despite over 90 minutes of anticipation, the crowd’s energy grew exponentially from the second the Zac Brown Band stepped onto the stage until the group’s last note sounded.

The opening acts, Levi Lowrey and Blackberry Smoke, teased the audience for over an hour, shouting between songs, “Are ya’ll ready for the Zac Brown Band?” Fans of all ages erupted in applause only to wait until after 8:30 p.m. for the band to appear.

WERW put together their most eclectic show to date, from garage rock to electro-rock-punk to a band made up entirely of Nancy Sinatra clones, this certainly was a bill for an eclectic audience.

Opening the show was Dumb Talk, who played to a sedated crowd, but by the last three songs everyone had shaken off their catatonic states to enjoy the valiant efforts of the band. Dumb Talk recently signed to Miscreant Records, a label formed by Syracuse University student, Jeanette Wall. With a new record pressed, and many upcoming one-off shows, Dumb Talk is giving it the best they can, especially since all of the members are still in college.

Review: With a disco ball illuminating the otherwise dark, warm air, fans of Yeasayer’s polyrhythmic, '80s influenced synth-pop had no choice but to dance.

As the lights went down, an intro piece that played over the PA inquired if the near-capacity crowd would like to make love. Clapping and cheering as Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, Anand Wilder, and Jason Trammell took the stage, the crowd replied with a resounding ‘yes.'
