Many attendees of the Central New York Wine and Chocolate Festival found the event overwhelming and unorganized.

For Colleen Feeney, Rachel Gullotta and Erin Marsden, all from Syracuse, the large amount of distilleries and wineries at the 10th annual AmeriCU Credit Union Wine and Chocolate Festival was overwhelming.

“It’s a little difficult to find which one to go to,” Gullotta said.

A Central New York man recounts his struggle with heroin addiction and staying sober.

On a crisp January night, *Brent trudged through the snow, carrying his flat-screen TV to trade for cash. Hours later, he stood in his bare apartment, alone, with his newly purchased heroin needles.

After a marathon of doping through the night, Brent decided that he could not continue down this path and called the Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare for detoxification services. Since the morning of Jan. 25, 2015, Brent has been clean.

Amateur astronomer known as "Barefoot Bob" educates locals during monthly astronomy events across Central New York.

At the end of Wilson Drive, a quiet street in the sleepy village of Marcellus, New York, is a house on a small hill that stands out from all the others. The comedic has-been offended his Fulton bowling alley audience more than he entertained it.

Lakeview Lanes is like any other bowling alley in Central New York. It’s a large facility with more than 20 lanes hosting men’s, women’s and mixed leagues. It’s offset from the road along Route 3 in Fulton, N.Y., just 10 minutes or so past the heart of town.  Lining the top of the building, a giant red sign sits atop an even larger bowling pin. You can’t miss it.

Manlius Art Cinema provides an intimate, independent alternative to traditional movie theaters.

If you’re heading to the Manlius Art Cinema for showtime, don’t expect to find the crowded parking lot and long lines you’re accustomed to at the local Regal Theater. In fact, you could drive right by the small theater because it’s subtly nestled between a local pottery shop and an embroidery store. Once inside, you may even need to run out to an ATM because of the cash-only policy (in place because credit card fees would drive the ticket prices up).
