No. 15 Louisville drained 13 shots from beyond the arc, then held off a furious Syracuse rally to defeat the No. 13 Orange Saturday, 73-69.
The Louisville Cardinals seem to have Syracuse’s number. Despite a 20-5 run late in the second half, the Orange could not overcome the Cardinals outstanding 3-point shooting and timely free throws.
Georgetown closed Wednesday's game on a 9-1 run to escape Syracuse with a 64-56 win, the Hoyas' first at the Dome since 2002.
After righting the ship on the road, Syracuse suffered another setback at home Wednesday. The Orange hosted rival Georgetown, and despite trailing for much of the second half, the Hoyas rallied late for a 64-56 win.
The Orange played one of their best defensive games of the season and shut down the Hoyas vaunted Princeton offense for 38 minutes, but it was the final two that cost Syracuse the game.
Syracuse won its second consecutive road game to pick up its 20th win of the season, as it defeated South Florida Saturday, 72-49.
A dash of good defense plus a dose of Rick Jackson were the ingredients that Jim Boeheim needed to put together a win in Tampa Saturday. The Orange’s patented 2-3 zone defense held South Florida to 35 percent (18-of-51) shooting and led Syracuse to a 72-49 win.
Syracuse avoided the first-ever five game losing streak in the Jim Boeheim era with a 66-58 road victory Wednesday night over the No. 7 Connecticut Huskies.
In the first half it was a seemingly familiar story for the Syracuse men’s basketball team, as SU struggled with poor defense and some bad shots. Villanova used hot shooting early and free throw shooting down the stretch to hand the No. 3 Orange their second consecutive loss.

The old saying in sports is no matter how arduous a task or how ugly it is, a win is a win, even if you’re a top ten college basketball team. The eighth ranked Syracuse Orange have played in a few tightly-contested games more than head coach Jim Boeheim’s liking. They continued their cardiac-kid style of play with a 65-59 victory over North Carolina State Saturday night at the Carrier Dome.
